I am trying to drink the prep-its 4 liters which is MORE than a gallon! I honestly dont know if I can drink this much. I am almost through half and it really hasnt kicked in yet. Anyone else experience this? Also did you drink the FULL gallon?

Im a cheater, for each mouthful I take I will tip a mouthful down the sink (I involuntarily vomit it up too) So far my bowel prep has been ok for them to see clearly during the scope. Im not advising you to do this though, as you have already gone the hard yards with this prep and you want it to be right on the day so as you dont have to do it again to soon. Good luck and let us know how you went. Jo

How long does it take for this stuff to kick in?I have been drinking it 2 hrs, almost 1/2 through and only one normal BM.

This stuff is awful, how can we drink a gallon of ANYTHING in a few hrs?

It usually kicks in for me within the first hour. I guess we are all different though. Hang in there, it should all start happening soon. Jo

Huh, I hope it kicks in. Wonder if its because I am not "chugging" it? 2 1/2 hrs and only on BM ?

I use the fleet phosphate soda(availible at walmart or walgreens), and put it in a shot glass and follow it by a gallon of liquid (water, gatorade, gingerale, etc). You should have poop that is coming out of your rear like pee.

What did your doctor say to do? I thought you were supposed to finish the whole thing an about an hour.

the prep that my doctor gives me every time is 2 pills of durolax around lunch time and at 3 pm i saschet of Picoprep or Picolax. another one at 5 pm and the last one at 7 pm. and suggests to drink lots of water in between. i stop having any liquids 4 hours before the procedure. it works fine no pain nothing except spending the night in the toilet. ah and a little burning every time i finish in the toilet. but that passes straight away. lol

Isn't just crazy? I can't keep the crap down, I throw up it up . Which is another reason why I'm reluctant to have another scope, unless they are willing to let me do a different prep. Just not worth going through all that!

Well the stuff worked-yikes! I did not finish it all as for over an hour it was just pure light yellow liquid, nothing else....so I figured I had gotten it all out. Sorry for the details....may help someone else in the future.

I am however, STARVING, this will be 42 hrs without food by the time I am done!!! Ugh

i remember the preps only too well, i gave up with the gallon stuff told them i could take no more they gave me picolax, smaller amounts and that done the trick, but because i was downing the other stuff, i was being sick while having my numerous bms, not nice but i can laugh now. I remember feeling so sorry for myself being sick and not able to leave the uncomfy seat of the toilet, pulling the cord for the nurse as i had run out of sick bowls and i couldnt leave to get another myself, it took me 48 hrs too, of no eating just the awful preps.
extreme constipation from birth
fainting spells aged 15, then diagnosed I.B.S
anal fissures, haemorrhoids internal and external
mucous and bleeding
sigmoidoscopies, endoscpies, scans, x-rays, bloods
h-pylori aged 24-26
more tests, diagnosed severe slow transit, marker tests took 3-4 weeks to come away
large colon removed in 2007, aged 27( surgeon said removed 10ft) no colostomy
still in severe pain, awaiting dietician appt, now lots of food intoleraces

meds- ibuprofen, fluoxetine, amitriptyline,and omeprazole

yeah i cant drink the goltytely or w/e anymore, i gag before i can get it into my mouth. my body has learned that it does bad things to me.

whoever decided lime was a good flavor for prep is stupid. lime sucks. add to that the terrible texture, and its disgusting.

I remember the days of those preps, also. I couldn't keep any of it down, the gallon jug, the phosphosoda, and some god awful syrupy stuff many years ago. Finally they broke down and wrote a prescription for Visicol oral pills which worked for the first 20 I took and then it seemed like all I could do was throw back up salt water, but what I did keep down did help with cleaning me out.

Maybe these would work for you, I have a very weak stomach. I am not condoning anyone to try this but I tend to cheat and not eat anything but liquids two days before as the reason they were giving me a colonoscopy in the first place was I had been having diarrhea/bleeding/vomiting and and there was nothing much left in my stomach to begin with. I was told whenever I had any of the signs of a flare-up to stop eating as it only agitated my colon further. Just had one of these done on Monday.

Hope everything went smoothly!
