What is a resection?  I had 6" removed from my left side colon in May, was that a resection?  If not, what do I call it?

What is a skin tag?

Thanks for any clarification...
Heidi

Crohn's and UC are pretty darn crappy, but if you can't laugh at yourself, you'll cry.

2001 Dx'd with UC.  No remission.  5/2008 surgery, removal of 6" of left side colon.  Dx changed to Crohn's.  Remission for 8-9wks after surgery, symptoms returning after resuming 6MP.

I'm not 100% sure on the resection, but a skin tag is just that: a tag of skin that doesnt do anything, it just sits there, gets in the way, and makes an annoyance of itself.

Heidi, you had a resection done. A resection is, when they remove a section of something, then join it back together again.
In your case, they took 6' away then rejoined the ends, this is called the anastomosis site.
Hope your feeling well following your surgery....

Thanks, I really feel I am doing pretty well.
Surprisingly, I find if I eat a bit of fiber (1/4c Grape Nuts) and take Gas-X and a probiotic daily, that my BMs are getting more/more formed with less looseness. So I think I'm doing pretty well, having had that damaged portion removed...but I am also having to re-learn what my body-signals are. I don't have the 'warning gurgles', can't (won't still skeered) trust a fart most days and when I get the urge, I still gotta get to the toilet pretty quickly. However, with the BMs being more formed, I can usually eliminate everything in that one sitting, instead of multiple sittings over a period of 90min.
Its just, different.
