Matthew, lets just hope that your summer time activity hasn't shifted to the fall season. BUT I'm so happy for you. There's no worse
pain, but I think pancreatitis comes in at a very close second.

Sniper, I guess he's put his title into your very capable hands. But I hope you shake this dubious crown off very quickly, and you're right
it's not good to be king, only if it's king of making us all smile, then you won that crown sometime ago my friend....

Sssshhhh don't tell the stones you transferred the kingship! Next thing we'll know is you or one of our other "stoners" will be throwing one out.

Let's just say its been over 14 months without any major activity, so I am indeed doing the happy dance. Well, now the arthritic conditions have taken center stage ( sigh) but that is better than crystalline He*l! You would have to have rocks in your head James, to want such a dubious honor. Hopefully, you will also abdicate. I'm no longer interested in being the King of Pain, as the Police so aptly put it. I certainly don't wish it on another human being!

I have a niece that has been passing stones like crazy. I swear that girl has a least one a month, if not sooner. She has the Uric ones. Doc put her on some medication and it slowed it down for a bit, but its acting up again. I feel so bad for her when she is in pain, I can't imagine what you guys are going thru, and quite honestly hope I never do. (((HUGS)))

We actually have hard water and someone told my husband that hard water can cause kidney stones. So we have a filter in the kitchen water dispenser and the fridge but I drink water out of the bathroom sink all the time.

I keep thinking about researching it to see if hard water can cause kidney stones or if it is a legend or rumor or something.

karendee, seems like there's something to it.  From a study extract:

"after drinking for 1 week 2 liters per day, between meals, of tap water and at the end of 1 week of the same amount of bottled hard (Ca2+ 255 mg/l) or soft (Ca2+ 22 mg/l, Fiuggi water) water, in a double-blind randomized, crossover fashion. As compared with both tap and soft water, hard water was associated with a significant 50% increase of the urinary calcium concentration in the absence of changes of oxalate excretion; the calcium-citrate index revealed a significant threefold increase during ingestion of hard water "

http://content.karger.com/ProdukteDB/produkte.asp?Aktion=ShowFulltext&ProduktNr=223854&Ausgabe=226754&ArtikelNr=46301 or search for hard water causes kidney stones, it's the 4th one down in Google.

Well, I've been following the advice of my latest Uro & that is to make my urine as acidic as possible, so there may be something to that water thing. Especially since it seems to be working.
Once a month is a nightmare vision I REFUSE to contemplate, sending a <<PRAYER>> her way this very minute. Ugghhh! 2-3 a summer was misery more than enough!

I have done the one per month thing Matthew. My record is three in a month. I do not wish for any new records.
