ive had crohns for about 11 years now. I am only 23. Ive been on remicade for the past 5 years at my max dose, and yeah it helps alot with stomach control, but recently i have been through alot of stress with school and work. So ive been a bit on the sick side. My problem is my fistula, which has continued to open a little more since ive had more anal constriction then usual.

Does anyone have tricks for keeping there draws/pants dry.... confused right now i use gauze pads but this doesnt seem to do the trick, and i hate when i have to change mid-day because of my darn fistula. ANY help would be appreciated for sure !, thanks guys

Curt, yes get you some undergarments like depends. There are many brands out there on the market. Only person that will know you have them on is you. I have had to waer them from time to time and I admit it was more my pride being hurt than anything. I appreciated not having accidents or soiled clothes. Susie

Hi Was thinking maybe light day pads they might help but not sure as they have a sticky place to put them on underwear and are made with plastic under the lining they might help keep things dry. Maybe try them on your day off to see if they are helpful. lol gail

Echoing the advice of the others who've posted, and sending good vibes since I SO know your pain! I'm rowin' the same boat, friend, and I hope that the suggestions offered bring you some relief and respite!

Do your best, then to hell with it.

Curt, I'm assuming you are male. One thing to be aware of when using pads with adhesive - they can flip thus allowing the adhesive to stick to your skin and/or body hair. Removal then gets interesting. Make sure they are completely stuck to your underwear and change the pad if the adhesive comes loose.

The light day pads for sure, that's what I did on some bad fistula draining days that I had. I've worn depends in the past on long car trips, in case I got sick with D. They aren't the most comfortable things in the world, I've only used them when I absolutely feel the need for that extra protection. The pads should work for that draining though.
