Hey everyone, I haven't been on here since I was first diagnosed back in 2006.  I occassionally browse the forums, and I really enjoy hearing about everybody's battles and success with this disease. I guess I don't feel so alone when I hear everyones stories... Things after my DX went pretty well, the pred and pentasa kept me feeling like a normal teenager for quite a while. Then I guess I figuered that since I wasnt having problems anymore that I didn't need those 16 pills a day!  I was actually fine for a while, 2 years actually with minimal flares.  Now I sit here hooked up to I.V.s and I'm having a really hard time with it. I should be out with my friends on a friday night, not in a hospital bed. I'm sorry if im whining, I just feel hopeless right now. I haven't eaten in 5 days, and the days go by so slow... I can't wait to be home. I almost feel like walking out of here on my own. I might be in pain at home, but I was happy. I don't even know when they plan on releasing me, but hopefully it will be soon. I really am going to stick to my meds, and watch my diet a little more. I just keep kicking myself in the bum for letting it get to this. I almost had to have surgery for crying out loud!  I just want to thank everyone here for being there for me, whether they knew it or not. :)

Hang on Belly! Sometimes this disease has a mind of its own. In fact, one time, my GI's partner tried to explain this to me. We could limit our diets to bread and water and this disease could still pop up! Your determination to heal, get better, and get out of the hospital are awesome. But please let "them" take care of you. I hope you have magazines, books, an ipod and or dvd player, and are able to have friends visit or call you. Get well--school is starting soon (I know, yuck) but you'll want to be in the best shape possible. Thinking of you!

I'm so sorry you're going through that!! I feel your pain I really do...I got out of a week-long hospital stay just two weeks ago, and I was so ready to get back home and on the road to recovery. I'm still not able to walk completely by myself, but I'm just glad to be back. I wish you well and I hope you get to go home soon!! Keep taking your medicine for goodness sake! You'll be out with your friends again in no time :)

Hi Belly and let me welcome you to Healingwell (in case I never did).  Sorry to hear you are sick again and in the hospital.  I hope they get you feeling better soon.  Being in the hospital sucks, so don't feel bad about venting.  We understand your pain.

You maybe don't realize this now, but you made a very valid point that all new and some older Crohnies need to remember, ALWAYS take some kind of medication to keep your Crohns under control.  I use Asacol, one of the mildest meds available to control my Crohns. I learned that fact myself the hard way, my 20 year remission ended with a emergency resection.  We have a chronic and uncurable disease, and need to always remember that.  I also stay on a low residue diet.  You have to find the right foods/diet for you.  One way to do that is to keep a food diary to keep track of foods that don't agree with you.

I hope they get you stabilized and you get to home soon.  (((HUGS)))

I'm so sorry Belly!

I was on TPN back in October and know what it's like to not be able to eat for days. In the past I have also been stubborn and when feeling good stopped taking all my meds. It happens, but at least we learn from it! Keep your head up, you'll be home soon! I know how frustrating this disease can be =( I'll be praying for you and hope you get home soon!

Please keep us updated!

Thanks to everone for the support. I am finally being set free tomorrow morning (yay yeah ) and I'm so excited that I can't seem to get to sleep. I really appreciate the support from everyone, and I am truly going to make an effort to live with this disease the best I can. Thanks again, and best of health to everyone!

So sorry you are in the Hospital. Glad you are getting freed today!!

I agree with Nanners you did help make a point to take the meds even when you feel good.
Maybe the hospital can get you back on your feet and you can start some maintenance meds or something.

good luck!
Karen
