Just wondering how booze effects others and their CD. My gastro has a very laid back approach and has since I have been with him (about 18 years). He feels everything in moderation is fine as long as I tolerate it, even to the point of nuts and everything else. There was a time it seemed everytime I ate Chinese (which I love) I got sick, I asked him and he told me, then dont eat it....
I cannot eat an apple without peeling it, if I eat the skin I am definitly dealing with a distended hard stomach in a couple of hours but the casual beer or drink seems to have no impact on my CD at all.
Just wondering if that is the norm.

Hi Johnny,

I was DXd with CD 16 years ago, when I was 15. Up until a couple of years ago alcohol didn't seem to bother me, but now if I touch it, I pay for days with D and dehydration. Even without going to excess, just a glass of wine makes me feel rotten. I've given up alcohol and gluten for the most part, and it's made a huge difference. And I can only eat fried things when I'm in remission or feeling pretty good. Otherwise, I just feel like junk.

Do your best, then to hell with it.

I don't notice a drink or so. If I overdo it, it's worse than BC (before Crohn's). But, I enjoy wine and haven't so far had to curtail that beyond moderation.

As lame as your dr's advise sounds, it's right on. Everyone of us is different and can tolerate different foods.

I get sludge poop the day after drinking.

I drink fairly regularly. Knowing your limits is the main thing. Although sometimes I splurge and pay for it. I cannot drink wine at all.

I don't drink alcohol at all b/c I can't handle it. I can have a very small "taste" of things, but other than that I'm absolutely miserable the next day!

But, just b/c it doesn't work for me doesn't mean it won't work for you! Everybody's different! Good Luck!

Hi -- I was ok with a glass in moderation.  But slowly, when I drank beer, I was in pain.  Pain to the point, the drink was not worth it.  Now I don't even look at the stuff.  Then, it moved to haviing wine.  Again, it took me a while to realize it was that since I don't have it often.  But again, for me anyway, most of the time it is not worth it.

I do have those days where I say one glass of wine won't kill me.....well the later and the next day, I am not saying that!  But again, everyone is different!

If I drink, I pay for it the next day or two. I rarely drink anymore though so I don't too much worry about it. But back in the day when I would drink at parties and college, oh boy....

I don't drink period. If I do I definitely end up paying for it. I used to love smirnoff or the occasional screwdriver, but my body just can't handle it anymore which is fine by me since I don't really need to be drinking anyway. My medicine makes me feel funny enough as it is, and I personally don't see the point in drinking just to get drunk. Hangovers..ugh.
