I just got a call from my pharmacist, letting me know that Entocort has been discontinued, they are no longer making it. I checked on a couple of online pharmacies and they said the same thing. My doc wrote me a prescription for it Friday! I'm going to call him and ask, what now?! I got the last 30 pills the pharmacy had, but that wasn't even the whole script, they were going to order more. A shame, because entocort has always been great for me, low side effects, worked well in a pinch. Just wanted to pass the word along!

I called Astra Zeneca and she said it wasn't discontinued, just not being supplied by a few suppliers anymore! PHEW! That was close! She said maybe my pharmacist should call a different supplier, he said he did. I've never liked him anyway, I guess this is my sign to switch pharmacies!

What does cx mean? That they are or are not carrying it? Entocort is my emergency flare med as well.  I will be very upset if it is gone.  Recently a bunch of suppliers stopped making the generic of Levsyn because it just wasn't profitable enough.  Something has to be done to protect patients.  Drug companies, while still a business, should not be allowed to just stop making something that people need to survive.  When we had the big bird flu scare there wasn't enough Cipro around should there be an outbreak.  The Govt ASKED the company to license their product to a few other manufacturers so that there could be a larger stock pile should it be needed.  They said NO.  And there was nothing more the government could/would do about it.  Something has to change.
26 Year old married female law student (last year!!). Diagnosed w/ CD 4 years ago, IBS for over 10 years before that, which was probably the CD. I am sort of lactose intollerant too but can handle anything cultured and do well w/ lactose pills and lactaid. For crohns I am currently on Pentasa 4 pills/4x day and hysociamine prn. I also have bad acid reflux and have been on PPI's since age 13. I have been through prilosec, prevacid, and nexium. Currently I am on Protonix in the morning and Zantac at night. I also take a birth control pill to allow some fun in my life.
