Anyone know if this is more common for us? I had trouble with it back before I flared in May. Mainly on my feet and legs. Very itchy red areas, bumpy, eventually it got scaly. Went completely away once I was on Prednisone of course. Now that I've been off just a little more then a lousey week, bottom of my feet are itching and burning again. It's REALLY dry where I live, so I know that doesn't help, and may be why I'm getting this. My doctor said it was eczema back then when I showed it to him.

I'm just hoping it has nothing to with the Crohn's, or signs that I might be starting to flare up again. I know we tend to associate everything with Crohn's, so I don't want to do that if it's just another side problem! Thanks!

I have never heard of anything like that with Crohns, but that doesn't mean its not associated with it. I would talk to your doc about it. We do tend to blame Crohns for everything don't we:)
Been living with Crohn's Disease for 32 years.  Currently on Asacol, Prilosec 60 mg, Estrace, Prinivil, Diltiazem, Percoset prn for pain and Calcium.  Resections in 2002 and 2005.  Recently diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and doing tests to see if I have Inflammatory Arthritis or AS.

Yup.  I'm sorry to say that you have Psoriasis.  It goes hand in hand with Crohn's.
33 years old. Diagnosed in 2002ish.
Taking Asacol, Lomotil TID, and on Remicade since 2004.
Lower Bowel area only, except for the short stint (about 2 weeks) that I had mouth sores.  Also have external/anal fistula and anal/vaginal fistula.

Yikes, Psoriasis huh? Guess I better make yet another doctor appointment. LOL Just hope that doesn't mean I'm getting ready to flare again, just having come off the prednisone. I do tend to always associate things with Crohn's, but this time was really hoping it wasn't connected!

It doesnt generally correlate with a flare--not for me anyway. BUT, my GI is married to a dermatologist who uses an IM Shot (regular shot) of remicade to deal with super psoriasis. I'm on Remicade, so I can only imagine how horrible it would be if i werent. It definitely gets worse as my remicade appt approaches.

Get an appt with a dermatologist, not the GI.

Also, a lot of times you'll get it on your scalp too, my best advise is DONT PICK; it inevitably pulls the hair out. Feel free to scratch/pick your feet, but one thing i've figured out is that when you scratch (as you are scratching) it seems to get more itchy, but stop scratching anyway and the itching immediately stops. (weird i know).

I also use a good thick lotion (like eucerin) and wrap my feet in saran wrap at night. It helps alot for the scalies/cracking - which will come if left untreated or if the derm takes too long to see you. (i've been bad about making another derm appt).

I was just thinking I need to go and get some eucerin. I remember using it the last time and it helped, but of course never got rid of it. Is there anything else I can do at home to help? It's gonna take a while for me to get in to a dermatologist. I have to go through my family doctor first, get the referral and all. Then I know it can take a few weeks at least to see one. Such fun! LOL

Sure would be wonderful having a GI married to a dermatologist! That would be helpful! :) Thanks for your help!

I feel your pain... I have a rash on my face that just pooped back up right when it was almost completely gone. Scaly too... skull   it keeps coming and almost going away over and over mad

mine could be Humira or could be Psoriasis, I took my son to the Dermatologist and she thought he might have a mild case of Psoriasis (I was so upset. He has an autoimmune disease too sad )

I have been borrowing his cream and it seems to help but never goes away. Just thinking about it makes it itch and it is really red and on my face.

I sure hope some others come by with suggestions. I have heard Olive oil and tea tree oil but have not tried them yet.  I have been rubbing any cream I can get my hands on on my face. I even tried scrubbing real good with soap then cream etc... nothing works!

I also just came off entocort and that is when the rash started.

It sucks you need a referral, maybe the primary doc can give you something in the meantime? won't hurt. I should go to the Dermatologist too but I am sick of all these doctors, I have GI, Primary, Rheumy.....to many

I have the exact same thing.  My PCP says that it is exzema and gave me a steroid cream.  That coupled with the entocort has made it go completely away.  I was miserable!  Couldn't sleep or stop scratching!!  Hope that helps.  I can let you know what the cream is...it worked wonders!!

Diagnosed with crohn's in January 2008!

Good to know I'm not alone! I found myself earlier rubbing my foot all around the carpet, just trying to get the itching to stop!!! LOL I have some steriod cream left from a similar rash, I put some on it. Seems to have helped the itching, if it really works, I'll have to see about getting the doctor to give me some more.

Please let me know if you guys find things that works!! :)

Jen,
Remember to stop scratching, even though it seems like it's still very itchy.   Once you stop scratching it immediately stops itching.

Now i'm gonna have to take my shoe off and scratch, you've all made me start to itch!  LOL
