Well, Mayo called today. They've got me scheduled for 20 October 2008. *sigh* IF I don't chicken out! Appointment will be w/the gyn/onco surgeon I really like, the gastro and a colorectal surgeon and then 24 October thru 31 October the in-house Smoking Cessation program and then SOMEHOW I'm supposed to refrain from smoking over the weekend and then the two surgeries the following week. Yeah, sure!

D*mn. I told them I really preferred the surgery THEN the in-house Smoking Cessation. That is one heck of an expensive program to go thru and have it all wasted in two days of panic and terror before surgery! Man, they just don't GET IT!! Sheesh!

You can't chicken out now C2 - if you let it go you don't know if the surgeons you like will be around when you need them and then you will be really freaking!
26 Year old married female law student (last year!!). Diagnosed w/ CD 4 years ago, IBS for over 10 years before that, which was probably the CD. I am sort of lactose intollerant too but can handle anything cultured and do well w/ lactose pills and lactaid. For crohns I am currently on Pentasa 4 pills/4x day and hysociamine prn. I also have bad acid reflux and have been on PPI's since age 13. I have been through prilosec, prevacid, and nexium. Currently I am on Protonix in the morning and Zantac at night. I also take a birth control pill to allow some fun in my life.

Just remember, I think I can, I think I can, I think I can... I know you can! I quit smoking several years ago, a very hard first week, but well worth it. Good luck, I hope they can get you all fixed up!

Yeah, they do, don't they, Randy? :-) I've often wondered how you've kept your cool and good humor all these years. But then, when you consider the alternatives .... who wants to go thru life constantly in a twit, right? Gotta go make some more lemonade .....

Fitzy, Adam, Kimberlayn, Sydney, Gachrons ... THANKS.

C2...I'll be thinking about a smoke free world for you. keep your strength. After all....you put up with Randy's wise cracks, you can take this one on :-)
ps..chewing on straws kept my mother from killing anyone when she had to quit after circulatory surgery and she chain smoked for 40 years. If all else fails, chew the straw sharp and stab anyone near by. That's not considered going postal right ?!?!?!?!
Dx'd '90 (emergency rupture), symptoms ignored long before that, '03 fistulas and bad flagyl reactions, B12 weekly, Pentasa [until I surrender to the bigger meds]
I'm riding on the escalator of life....

(((C2))) I will be keeping you in prayers. Hey I quit cold turkey after smoking for 29 years. If I can do it, so can you. As said above, you will feel so much better afterwards. I like the fact I feel like I can breathe again and I don't smell like an ashtray anymore either. And my skin looks so much better. Never knew smoking could do that.

As for the surgery, hopefully this will return you to a long long remission and you can start living life again. You won't be alone, we will all be right there with you. Good luck!

Love,
Gail *Nanners*
