Hi Guys,

I've been noticing lately that my gums have been bleeding a bit, then just now as I was brushing I realized that my entire bottom gum-line is broken around my teeth and bleeding pretty substantially. I don't currently have insurance (just started a new job) but am about 3 treatments into my new Humira regimen. Has anyone else experienced bleeding gums after starting Humira? That's the only real change in my life lately, and I'm a little suspect since I've never had gum issues in the past at all.

Do your best, then to hell with it.

Hi Lightningbug,

I am not on Humira, but I have had bleeding gum issues. I have heard Crohn's itself can cause this.

Someone should come along soon and be able to answer your question more directly.

Best of luck to you!

It's probably the crohn's. The worse my disease is, the more my gums bleed. If you can't afford to go to a dentist right now you can do some things at home to help. A man at my church is a dentist and he gave me some good tips - he said to make sure you floss EVERY day. Also, use a mouth rinse of 25% peroxide and 75% water and swish your teeth and gums with it. You can use regular mouthwash too. Use a SOFT toothbrush so that you don't hurt yourself with the bristles and IF you have a water-pik - those are really great for getting the mouth-rinse as close to or in the gums as possible.

I've just started on Humira (2 months in) and my gums are bleeding too, top and bottom. If I suck my front teeth with my tongue, theres quite a bit of blood on my tongue. Not impressed. Thinking of using Corsydyl mouthwash to see if that helps.
