Has anyone here lost a significant amount of hair from taking either MTX or Remicade?  My MTX just got increased to 25 mg a week and my new eye doctor is considering having me on Remicade in the future as well.
Thanks for your replies!

sad  I've been on Methotrexate injections and now pills for many years. I had thick curly hair.
Since I started taking it my hair has thinned out tremendously. I don't have any bald spots but I lose a lot of hair after each washing.
I'm always use styling products to pump up the volume in my hair.
I have also been on Remicade since 1999 but the hair lose started with the methotrexate.

Hi Indigo.

I took 15 and then 20mg/week of MTx for about a year. I had some hair loss prior to the MTX . . . but I noticed an area on the top of my head go pretty thin while on the MTX. It did eventually thicken back up. * phewwwww! * I said something to hubby about it . . . and he said "do you want to feel better . . . or do you want hair?" I was a bit offended . . . but was glad it didn't bother him.

Yes MTX will make you lose some hair. I have been on it 13 weeks now and within the past few weeks started noticing the hair in the shower and in my brush. I have really thick hair but my guess is it will thin out.

Are you taking Folic Acid with the MTX?  That is supposed to help reduced the hair loss.  You might also try adding Biotin, its supposed to be really good for your hair.  Good luck!
