Hey all,

Well my doctor has decided to try and wean me off the entocort because the remicade seems to be helping a bit. I have also started methotrexate injections about 3 months ago and maybe he figures that should help too. Either way, I've never been able to get my dose of entocort below 9mg/6mg on alternating days. This has been going on for about a year, too long I know, but I don't know if i can wean down to nothing in a matter of a month, which the GI wants me to do now. I think this is gunna cause me problems, as I am already feeling alittle worse on 6mg daily...its been about a week. Anyone wanna share their stories with weaning off entocort, and have they done so with the help of remicade/methotrexate? im kinda apprehensive about the next few months. Do you think the GI will phone in a refill for Entocort if it gets bad? he is hard to make an appointment with. Thanks all.

I did really well on remicade (i seriously love the stuff!!) after taking entcort - I started weening right when i had my first dose & did it rather quickly - 6mg for 3 days Then 3mg for 3 days then none
it sucks that everyone is so different & sometimes hearing other people experiences doesnt necessarily help.
Try to stay positive!....:)

I had to wean of entocort and Pentasa after my Humira started. My Doc left it up to me.

I was real slow. I would drop one entocort pill every 2 weeks, then once I took 1 pill for 2 weeks I went to every other day for a week or so...

I was probably over cautious but like you in the past if I dropped just one pill of entocort I would flare bad!!!

Might take you longer than the Doc wants but can't hurt. I think I had my 3rd Humira injection (every 2 weeks) and was still on the entocort.

Try not to worry and keep on the 6mg for a while and see how you do, you might see you are fine and can follow your Doc's orders.

good luck,
Karen
