This first set is from my home town about 2 miles from my house. The second set were taken by someone just up the bayou from me. You can see from the aerial pics just how much water is here. You can also see just how beautiful the area is when it is not under water.

That's amazing Sniper! So much work to do! People from the south have enormous amount of courage and determination... and probably FAITH...
YOu are in my prayers... Try to take care of yourself amid all this work and devastation.

Those are amazing pics sniper, but now the freaked out mom is comming out of me, is it safe for those kids to be in what's probably contaminated flood waters like that? Sorry, couldn't resist, I'm in Canada and although we get floods in Canada (although not where I live) as a paranoid mom I'm concerned about kids in that kind of water.

:)

Still waiting for a pic of the gator!
26 Year old married female law student (last year!!). Diagnosed w/ CD 4 years ago, IBS for over 10 years before that, which was probably the CD. I am sort of lactose intollerant too but can handle anything cultured and do well w/ lactose pills and lactaid. For crohns I am currently on Pentasa 4 pills/4x day and hysociamine prn. I also have bad acid reflux and have been on PPI's since age 13. I have been through prilosec, prevacid, and nexium. Currently I am on Protonix in the morning and Zantac at night. I also take a birth control pill to allow some fun in my life.

Sniper,

God really broke the mold when he made you. I am so glad when I get on line and see thet you and Camelia have made it another day to give us one more update. You are so wonderfully upbeat, and under those circumstances. Please keep us posted-I don't trust the press skull  . The stories from Katrina evacuees were so different from what the press said. The area around your home is so beautiful, I hope you are able to return and that these awful storms stay out to sea in the future so you can continue you life in the great place you have built for yourselves. Tell Camelia thank you for sharing you and your time with us. I am greatful for the understanding and insight you bring.
Crohn's for life, symptoms included terrible joint and soft tissue pain, just met first cousin who suffers from Reiters-explains sooo much. Great control on SCD (when I'm good) and I get by with a lotta help from my friends!

OK, Wife took a picture of our new yard dog/gator. I still dont recall how to post a pic to this site.Help me if you know how.. The pics I just posted were sent to me by my wife. The person that took them sent them to her. That made it easy. There are lots of pics , pardon the pun, floating around down here. Thank you for the kind words Margie. I dont know that I deserve such accolades, I'm just sharing what I see in my own twisted way.The press has not said much about all this for some reason. When the levees in New Orleans did not break, they all high tailed away from here. Pb4, I know the pics of the kids made me cringe too. I assure you , no child of mine would be in that water. The water in my yard has gone down a lot but still is not gone. The marsh is sort of like a sponge and it may take a while before the level is at normal. I have about 3/4s of my yard cleaned but the last 1/4 will be mud that will not dry for a long time. All in all we are doing pretty good now. I would like to be doing something other than cleaning the mess , but, I can only do what I must right now. If someone can remind me (sorry old defective memory) how to post pics I can show you what the back yard looks like ...plus you can say hello to my little friend,,,,,who knows . he may be a hand bag of yours someday...

I agree, kids in the water is a bad thing.
If nothing else you can put the pictures on a free pic hosting website and then post the link here.
Like this from our "photo" post last year.

Thanks MMMNAVY. I'll try to do that this weekend. Its going to rain again and that takes all the fun out of working in the mud. It does wash some of the salt out of the ground though and may save some of our grass and some plants. I went lend a hand to a friend of mine that got water in his house. He has all that he owns outside to dry. We had to bring it back inside because its going to rain. He got a call from the co. where he works yesterday and they told him if he is not back at work Monday, they will let him go. They are not paying him to be off dealing will all this mess either. I'm glad I am retired . No boss, no money, no rush to clean up the mess....
