Hi there, its kelly again,
Just thought I would let you all know that i saw an acupuncturist today, and she told me to cut out, wheat, flour, milk, yeast, and sugar out of my diet, which will be difficult, and suggested that i may have candida, does anybody know anything about candida? I have had continuous yeast infections off and on through out my life,
She is sending me to a hollistic bowel doctor, im so excited, and she said that he will probably diagnose me right on the spot, it is possible that if a person has had candida for a long time, it can present problems such as crohns, celiacs, or other intestinal diseases, as well as about 80 other familiar symptoms.
Just thought i would give this little input, about me again, once again, something new found out every day, about this whatever is wrong with me........
Thanks again for listening,
kelly
p.s. take care all of you

wow, that is a lot to give up all at once! I have had fabulous luck by cutting out gluten; maybe you should try one thing at a time? I hope all works well for you, yp
49 y/o woman.  Diagnosed 4/06 after colonscopy, SBFT, CT-scan all showed crohns. 3 months later, after pred and remicade, all tests showed no crohns. December '06 had adhesions cut through a laparoscopy. Now taking Glycolax, Ultra Fiber Plus, Florastor, and DHEA. Have become gluten-free diet per naturopath's tests.

Hi Kelly! Your acupuncturist sounds like a good one!

Rather than thinking of cutting out the individual things you listed, you could just start the SCD. It is free from everything you listed, has a great online database complete with recipes, and has many "SCD compliant" recipe books available at your local bookstore. Many folks with Crohn's have great results on it. ...Just a thought that might make it easier. Then again, starting by eliminating one of the things, as yogaprof suggested, might make it easier, too!

And yes, I've heard of candida. It's discussed a lot on many alternative health websites, as it is a big consequence of our modern diet. The SCD would naturally rid you of it...over a loonnnnggg time.

You take care, too!!! smilewinkgrin

whatever you chose to do with diet, give it time and keep at it. it is empowering to give up food that could be harming you, so go for it!

The diet sounds like a great recommendation. I have been wanting to try it for some time now..if you have the time please, keep us updated on how the diet is going and your methods. I'd be really interested to hear how it goes!!!
And I have to agree with the others in that the SCD is a great place to start if you do go on that diet.

Yeah the specific carbohydrate diet sorry. I know I get frustrated when everybody uses shorthand for different terms...

sorry 'bout that. Yes, the book that introduces the Specific Carbohydrate Diet is called "Breaking the Vicious Cycle" by Elaine Gottschall. It also has a few recipes in the back. It would be a good place to start if you want to learn more. Also this website:

http://www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info/index.htm

Also this one:

http://www.scdiet.org/

That's just the tip of the iceberg of what's available! Hope you feel better soon!
