OK I have a new addition to the "every crohnnie should have one" list.  Get a heated mattress pad!

My darling husband bought it as a Christmas gift because I am always cold at night and i sleep so much sounder when warm (and it keeps me from freezing him with my toes!).  It was great to preheat the sheets so the tootsies didn't get shocked.  I loved it before...but now......I was feeling pretty crummy after two weeks of work traveling and eating on the road.  My tummy and every joint in my body ached.  Then I heated up the bed and crawled in and it was like laying on a giant heating pad.

It has an auto turn off feature so I don't worry about frying myself.  Since we got the Queen size, it has dual controls so always hot hubby can keep his side of the bed on normal temps.  Aside from my engagement ring a few years ago...this is my best present ever (and it comes close to the ring tongue )
Dx'd '90 (emergency rupture), symptoms ignored long before that, '03 fistulas and bad flagyl reactions, B12 weekly, Pentasa [until I surrender to the bigger meds]
I'm riding on the escalator of life....

Ahhh your heated mattress pad sounds fantastic! I purchased a new car over the summer and I insisted that it have heated seats for my long drives when I am having pains...now if only they could install a toilet too I would be set.

I have to agree. I love my heated mattress pad. Ours is king so we also have the dual controls. It's nice getting into a pre-warmed bed and relaxing. Only problem is my dog loves it too and has to be under my blanket.

I don't have the mattress pad, but I did get the smaller heating pad. I have to say I love mine. You just place on your stomach or wherever else it hurts, and it also has the auto-turn off so I've fallen asleep with it a few times(I always wake up in the middle of the night anyway so I can turn it off then).

I wholeheartedly agree with you though. Any heated pad is a godsend sometimes I think. I've had instances where I hurt so badly that even massaging won't do anything; it just makes it hurt worse...
And of course it's just too difficult to get the heat all over with a bath or some of us can't take them at all--given that we're more prone to yeast infections baths are not such a good idea..

Geeeeeeez, looks like my wife may be replacing me as the primary bed warmer. I seldom feel cold and sense I was Dx with this DD I could keep the house cold enough to hang meat. I will have to get her one and just keep my side off,,,but I am much more fun to snuggle....

I feel your joy! I have a heated waterbed(yes they are still out there!), it makes my aches and pains feel much better at night. I'll have to keep that mattress pad in mind though.......it might work camping if we had electric!

Ok, I need one of those....

any brand suggestions? Our mattress pad is about to fall apart and we need a new one I could just casually slip in a heated one instead.

Are the soft and comfy? My mattress pad used to be very soft and fluffy and now it is flat and yucky.

Yup, they're handy in cold Canadian winters for sure...just gave the one I was using to my son since he's now downstairs in his sisters old room (she moved out a week ago!!!) so I imagine I'll have to buy a new one before long (winter's almost here) and my room is particularly cold for some reason.

I have the heated blanket. We turn it on long before we get in bed and then the mattress is all warm too!

I don't have a heated mattress pad, but I do have my microwavable corn bag, that goes into to the bed with me every single night. I can't sleep without it, even in the summer:)
