Paul Newman passed away yesterday. Yahoo News has a great bio posted. He and his daughter Nell ran a wonderful company that has contributed about 250 million dollars to various charities including some to fund camps for children with health issues related to diet. These camps have been important in helping children with Crohn's, Celiac, and various other disorders to experience camp and learn something about nutrition as it relates to their conditions. The web site for Newmans Own is currently down due to huge volume, but the link below will lead you to a wonderful tribute.

Crohn's for life, symptoms included terrible joint and soft tissue pain, just met first cousin who suffers from Reiters-explains sooo much. Great control on SCD (when I'm good) and I get by with a lotta help from my friends!

Hi Margie... I was just reading about this 2 seconds ago on Sympatico... He was so anti-Hollywood, and so dedicated to his family and doing something worthwhile with his fortune... I admired him greatly. He was born on Jan. 26th... exactly (to the day) one year before my sweet mom.... aquarius... she has blue eyes and a great sense of humor which he says kept him sane all these years...
The world has truly lost a beautiful soul.... and it will feel its absence dearly.!

If only the world had more Paul Newmans and Joanne Woodwards! The world is a richer place for his having graced it and the world is a sadder place w/o him.
Some people are like Slinkies... Not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.
