Can you receive your Remicade infusion the same day that you get a flu shot? My office is doing free flu shots the same day I am scheduled for my remicade infusion and I wasn't sure if I could get the shot in the morning and still have the infusion in the afternoon.

I asked that when I was getting my infusion last week. My Dr. said to wait at least a week after infusion.

I don't know what to do.  Everything I've read says it's ok, and even recommended, to get the flu shot (killed virus) but not the nasal one.  I asked my GI and he said not to get it.  I'm going to be tutoring elementary kids (and when I was in the classroom I got my shot every year) and I think it would be REALLY bad if I got the flu.  I'm going to be extra careful to avoid other things too.  BIG bottle of hand gel, some lysol, and a diluted bleach solution in a small spray bottle to wipe things off.  It's probably overkill.  I'd wear a mask, but many of these kids need to see how to properly pronounce words.  I feel like if I'm probably going to get the shot anyway, should I even call to talk to my GI again?  Maybe he can explain his reasons.  I would think it won't be AS effective as for people not on Remicade because the immune system won't respond as aggressively as it might without the Remicade, so he might think it's a why bother situation.  I'm thinking too much and I should just ask again, I just hate confrontation.

The flu shot is NOT a live virus. But since you are on Remicade I would ask the doc when the best time to get it would be. Good luck!

I have been on Cade for over 7 years and I ALWAYS get a flu shot. I think my GI gave it to me one year.
