Long time reader - first post.  I was diagnosed with CD in '05 but had symptoms most of my life.  After 2 years of extreme low back and right hip pain my rhuemy has diagnosed ankylosing sponylitis and is recommending Humira and I will take my first injection today.  I am aware of the serious side affects but am wondering about the minor ones and how long it may take to see results - any info?

I just started mine last week. So far, I just feel really, really tired, and there will be soreness at the injection sites for a little while. Other than that I haven't had any side effects. It takes a while for it to really enter your system anyway.

I havent noticed any side effects since being on it.  I am pretty tired all the time, but I'm not blaming that on the Humira as of yet only becuase I was put on so many meds all at the same time so I'm not sure whats causing it.  The shot itself is a little painful but nothing too bad.

Current Meds: Humira (bi-weekly), 50mg Pred, Levbid, Nexium, B12 injections.

I've been on it 1.5 years.

No side effects, the area is a little painful right after the injection. If I get up and walk afterwards, it hurts some so I inject it in bed so I don't have to get up again. In the morning, you can't even tell where I did it.

Good Morning Healing Well!!! My first (almost full) nights sleep in 2 years! This Humira stuff is great. I was actually able to go to Walmart (ugh), change linens on the bed, sweep and scrub the kitchen and still cook all on the same day. Plan to call GI office and see if I still need to take my Crohn's med now. So excited.....

I'm so happy for you!! It's really wonderful to be able to do even the most basic things that people take for granted every day. I hope you continue to stay well :) and am glad you are feeling that way now.

This week will be 7 or 8th injection and I feel really good.

I did feel better right away but I kept getting better as time went on. Give it some time.

I also took my other meds and weaned off them at the beginning while taking the first  doses of Humira (pentasa and entocort is what I was on, I took them for a little while to give Humira a chance to kick in).

good luck

Karen
