Hey everyone, I hope you are all doing well or as well as you can be!  We met with the pediatric surgeon today and he feels surgery is the best option for Sierra as well.  (That makes 3 Dr's) She hasn't tapered off prednisone completely.  They want us to try to do it quicker, 5 mgs every 5 days.  I hope she can handle that - she is down to 20 mg and isn't feeling fantastic.  They scheduled her surgery for 10/17.  I hope I win the lottery between now and then.  The surgeon set up a payment plan for his fee ($5,500).  That is only his fee though, not the hospital, etc.  I hate that we have to worry about the finances.  Her health is most important and certainly doesn't have a price tag but medical bills have really become a burden. He said he will try to do it laproscopic (sp?) but isn't certain until he gets in there.  He believes she is going to feel so much better.  Oh how I pray she will!
Sierra is actually looking forward to surgery.  She says she will take whatever relief she can get!  I am very nervous!  Please keep her in your prayers!  Much love and laughter to all of you!!!!!

Oh, Sierra got her drivers license and is so excited about it!

Is there any reason your daughter can't get on state health insurance? Most states have programs for uninsured children.  I know my school district offered very reasonably priced health insurance.  I believe the school required it if you were playing sports.

26 Year old married female law student (last year!!). Diagnosed w/ CD 4 years ago, IBS for over 10 years before that, which was probably the CD. I am sort of lactose intollerant too but can handle anything cultured and do well w/ lactose pills and lactaid. For crohns I am currently on Pentasa 4 pills/4x day and hysociamine prn. I also have bad acid reflux and have been on PPI's since age 13. I have been through prilosec, prevacid, and nexium. Currently I am on Protonix in the morning and Zantac at night. I also take a birth control pill to allow some fun in my life.

I know you have waited a long time for this. I hope she has a very uncomplicated surgery and a speedy recovery. I will be keeping you in my thoughts.
