Is there anything that can be done for these rectal tags. They are quite the bother. How do you deal with them?

Most of the time doctors/surgeons will not mess with them. They CAN be cut off, but that comes with risks and most of the time they are just bothersome and not causing harm. If they get unusually large and painful, a surgeon MIGHT consider removing, but that'd be the only reason, or so I've understood.

My surgeon gave me some ointments to help shrink it and stop the bleeding. Every now and then it itches and burns, but it's fine most the time. It's annoying more then anything.

Have you asked your doc for any ointments? I can't remember offhand what mine gave me.. it's in my bathroom with my other ointments!

They can NOT be cut off while they are flaring (large/inflammed) only when they've shrunk back down to almost nothing should they be snipped off but that won't guarantee that new ones won't re-appear.

My perianal crohn's skin tags were misDX as being hemmies and I had them banded (not surgically removed) this happend while they were large and inflammed and because of that surgery they've remained that way the entire time (17 yrs) that I've had crohn's...

The reason they should not be messed with when they are in a flared state is because it's diseased tissue and given the area, it will not likely heal and leads to a high risk of reoccuring infections.

I was told (after the fact of having my banded) that a script of cortifoam (rectal meds) can often help shrink them down small enough to bring them out of a flare.

Best to see a colon and rectom surgeon about your concerns, mine told me to just keep the area clean at all times and that because of the useless surgery I had on them they'd never go away.
