Hey!
I am being treated for a severe crohns flare (the worst since I was diagnosed). The inflammation is not very high and has a uc pattern. Normally my doctor puts me on predinsone but this time he prescribed entocort along with canasa and a cortifoam enema. I am already taking 6mp.
My question is has anyone had success with the entocort pulling them out of bad flare? And how long did it take? I am also worried that the mirena IUD that I had put in is the cause of this as the day I had it put in I had my regular crohns blood work done and it was the best it has ever been in 5 years and now 3 weeks later I feel worse than I have in 5 years!!! This flare literally came on in a matter of 2 days. My symptoms are the normal with fever, sever pain, no appetite, unable to hold anything in, and severe bloody diarhea.

Any response would be awesome.
Thanks!
Sally

You know Sally that may be something you need to take up with your Doc. If you were doing so good and then after the insertion of the IUD you are having problems, would raise red flags for me too. I think you should contact your doc and discuss this asap. I hope you get some answers and get feeling better soon.

Thanks Nanners,
I have a call to my GI and did talk to one of the ob docs at my docs office. She seemed to think I should give it some time before I have it removed. But I failed to mention in my post that the only time I have ever had a sudden onset flare like this is right after the birth of my children. And well I really don't have time to just to wait it out and see if it is a one time thing (as she suggested) when I have 4 children to take care of. So I just called and made an appointment to have it removed. I know my body and this disease too well to not think that the IUD had something to do with this.

Hopefully the entocort will help and I can stay away from predinsone. GI said if all these drugs don't work that he will have to start me on Remicade.

Thanks again,
Sally
