Hey guys,
I had the flu on Friday and took some pepto bismol. For the last 2-3 days I have been so gassy and have the most bizarre BM i have ever seen. They are green (from the pepto I'm sure) but also it's like foamy (TMI?) turn

Anywhoo, my butt hurts so bad from going so much, was feeling great until the flu had to come along and stir stuff up. Any of you had bad experiences with pepto bismol before? I'm hoping this stops soon!
Thanks!

I never tough the stuff. It makes me gag. Now Im sure I made the right decision. Anything that goes in pink and comes out green is not for me. Home you feel better soon..

Pepto isn't a good thing for CDers, it contains asprin.

I wipe extra virgin olive oil on the butt, very healing and soothing, EVOO contains natural pain relief as well, however I don't know that it's noticable externally and I'm not sure how much you'd need to ingest for it to be effective for pain but I've read it has natural pain relief.

I know that pepto can turn your poops black from what others have said (I've never in my life ever used it) but I don't know about the foamy thing...maybe you should call your doc or pharmacist about this.

:)
My bum is broken....there's a big crack down the middle of it! LOL :)

lamb61 is correct, we aren't supposed to use it because it contains aspirin and can cause bleeding.
Been living with Crohn's Disease for 32 years.  Currently on Asacol, Prilosec 60 mg, Estrace, Prinivil, Diltiazem, Percoset prn for pain and Calcium.  Resections in 2002 and 2005.  Recently diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and doing tests to see if I have Inflammatory Arthritis or AS.

Can anybody share a link/source for the claim that Crohnies aren't supposed to take Pepto-Bismol?

I'm skeptical of this.  Pepto-Bismol does not contain aspirin.  The active ingredient is bi****h subsalicylate, which is a chemical cousin of aspirin, but it is not aspririn and does not have the anti-platelet properties (and, hence, the bleeding risks) associated with aspirin.

From everything I've seen, Pepto is considered safe for Crohnies.  If I'm wrong about this, I'd love to be educated! :-)
