I get pains in all areas of my body. My first major flare I had pains in my ribs, now it's mainly in my ankles and knees.

I also get cramping, D, sometimes vomiting and fatigue. Ooh, and heartburn.

Bad flare May '06 resulted in CD diagnosis-symptoms for 10 yrs prior.

I have Crohns in the typical area where the small and large intestine meet. My GI has told me that the pain I get in my upper right rib area is referred pain. Meaning the pain is really radiating from another area than right where I point to. Typical Crohns symptoms for me is cramps, D, and some nausea and ocasional vomiting. Hope that helps.
Been living with Crohn's Disease for 32 years.  Currently on Asacol, Prilosec 60 mg, Estrace, Prinivil, Diltiazem, Percoset prn for pain and Calcium.  Resections in 2002 and 2005.  Recently diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and doing tests to see if I have Inflammatory Arthritis or AS.

Pain in the ribs, back, lower right side, and lower left side; nausea; almost unbearable spasms; sometimes burning, deep pain that doesn't stop with spasms on top of that; vomiting sometimes, incredible weakness for a few days afterward.

In a flare, it is nausea, sinus pain/congestion, diarrhea, fatigue and "brain fog". Outside the flare, it shows up as indigestion and muscle and tendon aches, runny nose and throat congestion with occasional cough. The rib pain almost sounds like gallstones, but I don't get that, so don't go by me.

I have had the rib pain before and my doctor said it was from having a distented colon from the disease. Since I have been on pentasa and prednisone, I have not had it, but it was pretty painful when I did.

I hope your child feels better soon! My heart goes out to him/her!
