That's why my eye lid got puffed up. I think I've had this problem for a while. Doc said that's why I get stys so easily as well. My eye doctor actually told me that my eyelash glands were blocked, and that I needed to use warm compresses. But she never used the word "blepharitis" with me. Wish she did, so I would have taken that a bit more seriously.

But he has me using warm compresses 2-3 times a day, and cleaning my eyelid margin with baby shampoo as well.

I asked him if it was Crohn's related. He said it is an inflammatory thing, but says it's also common in "normal" people. So I don't know. Anyone else here deal with this? The eye doc said my eyes were okay (healthy) so hopefully there isn't any damage or anything from having this.

He took blood work, so I'll get that back to see where my sed rates are. But he doesn't think I'm in a flare. My hand that was a bit puffy and hurting is okay now. Think I just hurt it. But I do need to get this blepharitis worked on. He didn't give me any creams or anything for it. Said good hygiene makes a big difference, and something I'll always have to keep up on. Hope that's standard treatment for this.

I get cellulitis in my eyelids about once a year. Tends to bounce back and fourth from left to right eyelid but always goes away after some anti biotics

Well thankfully it's the baby shampoo with no tears! LOL I would have NOT been happy had he said regular soap! LOL But I did it for the first time tonight. You keep your eyes closed, so it's not so bad. You just have to clean the eyelash follicles, so you have to get CLOSE. The warm compresses feel good, but it's not going to be fun doing it a few times a day.

From some of the reading that I've done this seems to be the common treatment. I guess they can give creams, and even oral antibiotics if it's really bad. But for the long haul keeping the eyes clean is necessary.

Cellulitis sure sounds awful to get yearly FinalMacGyver! Gotta be some connection, with all the inflammation links.

Wow. Glad I finally looked at this post.....I'm having some puffy eyelid issues. It kinda hurts but is more annoying than anything. I thought maybe it was a bit of exzema or psoraisis.....I'll have to look into this.

haha! If it were only ever as simple as not eating something huh! :)

CrohnieYogi. I was the same way. Mine have been puffy for quite a long time. I always didn't think much of it, because it didn't seem like that big a deal to me. Annoying describes it best, like you said.

I had this a couple of years ago and it was excruciatingly painful. I was having to go to the doctor to have the oil glands drained as often as 3 times per week. The glands in the outer rim along the eyelid I can drain myself, but my oil glands were getting clogged high up under the lid. I even had temporary tear duct plugs put in because my eyes got so dry.
