shakehead  I can't believe I'm already in the same old predicament!!  I've been on everything under the sun since dx 6 years ago, and cimzia seemed to be going great!!  I was taken off the methotrexate and weaned off the steroids.  I was down to only Cimzia, Cymbalta, and Klonopin(RLS).  Things were going great and then wham!!  The last 2 days I've been in so much gut pain and joints also.  I am so fatigued I couldn;t get out of bed till 1:00 p.m.  I am so scared that I'm running out of options that I don't know which way is up!!!  I'm a single mom of two teen boys that have me running constantly to their swim and football practices, and don't know how I'm going to do it.  I'm sorry for being so negative, I'm just feeling at the end of my rope right now!!!

(((Kimmy)))

How extensive is your disease? Is more surgery an option?

I've already had 3 abdominal surgeries within a 10 month period. I had 18 inches of smallbowel at the ileum, 6 inches at sigmoid, appendectomy, hysterectomy, gallbladder removed, and surgery for adhesions after all that. I thought I had weathered the surgery storm, but now I don't know. Things were looking so good the last 2 months on the cimzia that's why I'm just baffled. I've got to get in to see my GI and probably go through all the CT,bloodwork, etc.. Oh and by the way in between all the major surgeries I've had 2 surgeries for pancreas problems done by ERCP. I'm just honestly confused and let down to be in this situation again!! I live in a relatively small town in north west florida and my GI regularly sends me to New Orleans when my case gets too complicated. It's going to be hard to do now that I'm a single mom. Thanks for letting me rant!!!

Hi Kimmy. I hate to hear you are having problems. I wonder why your doctor sends you to New Orleans?? There are nationally known gastroenterologists in north/central florida. Let me know if you want some names.

I would appreciate any names, but I have United Health Care and they are limiting who we can see. My GI really wanted me to go to Mayo but UHC declined. As far as central fl, where I live New Orleans is just 3 hours away. My GI also wanted to send me to University of Alabama at Birmingham no go with insurance.

Ira Shafran in Winter Park is the first one that comes to mind. Google him and you can see that he is dedicated to IBD. He does a lot of research, too.

I talked to my GI today and of course CT and bloodwork time. I'm hoping the sigmoid area (which is where most of the pain is) is not narrowing. We're holding off on prednisone for now. Hope I can pull myself out of bed and get to work tomorrow!!!
