I am on imuran and according to my doctor this medication is safe to take the all pregnancy. This is my first child and i am very keen to breastfeeding , i would like to know how was the pregnancy outcome for those who were in the medication mention above that changed to another medication. I nurse my 11 month old twins and take 6mp. My GI, OB Pediatricians and lactation consultant do not see a problem with it. I take 100mg before bed so for the last 6-7 months the twins sleep at least 8 if not 10-12 hours before I nurse them. But they were nursing every 2 hours for the first 2 months.

I have never had a problem with any of my medications while nursing all 4 of my children for a year. The only one my GI thought I would have to pump and dump on was flagyl but fortunetly I didn't have to take it.

You will do what you feel is right and I completely understand you and others that may feel that I should not nurse while taking 6mp.

Good Luck! I thought I would be excited to quit nursing the twins (my last babies) but now I am getting really sad!

Krica - I was on Imuran for my 1st pregnancy and I BF for a few weeks while on it too. My GI, OB and the lactation consultant were fine with it too. Good luck with it - it was one of the hardest things I've ever tried to do and I really wish I could have made it work.
