so the rhuemy put me on Nsaids and I said that I am concerned about a crohns flare but he just kind of said if it happens we will stop. he tested me for ankylosing spondylitis and I am now going to be taking sulindac 150 mg twice daily. I am fustrated because I dont want to have another flare but I want this pain to go away. Any expieriences with NSAIDS positive or negative. It was just alot to take in the day after my crohns anniversary and a week before my 20th birthday.

Shellz, as you are already aware, we are not supposed to take NSAIDS. I only take Tylenol for pain. However, I had Shingles in May and the pain was unbearable. My GI let me take Advil (ibuprofen) every 8 hours as needed for 1 week, and it didn't have any negative effect on me, thank goodness. However, I only took it twice a day for one week. Good luck to you. Blessings, Julie

Shellz, all of the different things the rheumy tried with me hurt my stomach and I ended up with 3 ulcers.  We are now staying away from NSAIDs, steroids, etc. and have gone to Voltaren gels for my joints, cortisone shots and staying on one paid medincine.  Hopefully they won't bother your stomach like they did mine!

Crohn's Disease, Acid Reflux/Gastritis, Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, Endometriosis, Arthritis, Depression/Anxiety.  Too many meds to list them all.  =)

My Rhuemy tried a couple of arthritis type drugs that hurt my gut. He would like my GI's to move me on to a biologic but according to them my CD isn't bad enough, Hello, my joint issues, are CD related. But I digress. I take NSAIDS when Tylenol just doesn't cut it, but I end up paying for it with stomach pain, and then I can't eat for a week or two until the ulceration calms down. So its a matter of trading todays pain for next week's pain. Its all a matter, for me anyway, of how much I need to function today vs tomorrow. But taking them long term, NO WAY. They would eat me up.
