hi, i'm still in the process of being diagnosed with possible crohn's disease, my gi said he is becoming increasingly convinced. What i was wondering about it, did anyone else seem to have slightly elevated liver enzymes at all? i had a blood test last year and they were up a bit, then went down again on their own. Now recently they have come up again and i'm taking salofalk at the moment but my gi said it isn't from the medication. He believes it is to do with my bowels, and i am one of those people who stresses easily. I've doubled my medicine dosage and i have to have a blood test again in 8 weeks to see if the medication has helped the enzymes to go down. I worry that it means something bad is happening or will happen? he doesn't think it's hepa*** he said some other condition but i cant remember the name? i cant help but worry myself! then i start to read things on the net and i know i shouldn't!!

I wouldn't worry too much about slightly elevated enzymes. Just keep an eye on it, with your doctor.
Dx'ed in 1999. No surgeries.

Current meds: 100 mg 6MP. Just finished prednisone taper. Udo's Choice Probiotics (30 billion).

Betaine, digestive enzymes, Candicin (oil of oregano capsules), Beta Sitosterol.

Agreed. Do you know what your liver levels actually are?
UC since age 22, now 27.  Several huge flares since then.

Currently tapering prednisone(35 mg from 80 mg).  Also just starting 6mp again and lialda.   I definately am not liking these drugs.  Maybe surgery one day?

That's right, don't stress yet until you know what it is. It may just resolve by itself, anyway. These things sometimes do.

How are your other symptoms? Just keep checking in here with us if you're troubled about anything, and we can probably give you a good indication of whether or not you should call your doc. It can be frightening to start reading up on potential diagnoses online. Wait until they are probable or actual diagnoses before you start serious research and, in the meantime, please do keep talking to us here. We can be less alarmist than some of those web pages.

Welcome,

Ivy.

thanks a lot =). i don't know what my levels are no. at the moment i'm not feeling too bad, i have been pretty tired on and off and having stomach gurgles a bit more at the moment.  is it normal to get tired a lot and easily?

i had D for a few days last week just once a day for like 2 or 3 days so it isn't severe, i seem to have a little while off from it happening and then it starts up again for a bit at least once a week! it chops and changes! i suffer from fuctose malabsorption aswell so that sometimes comes into it but i have learnt more how to handle that now through diet. i get tender ribcage pain a bit and my thigh/hip area feels like it is bruised but there isn't a bruise there. i still have bruises on my shins that tend to come and go! i had a pretty bad UTI a few weeks ago for about a month or so and had recurrent thrush infections with it so i have been a bit of a mess! i dont think that has anything to do with crohns though? i don't get my period anymore cos i am underweight and there is no sign of it returing any time soon! i have lost a fair amount of weight some part was intentional but i dont know if i have lost a bit cos of crohns or what?!

Do you know which enzymes and how elevated?

Before I was actually diagnosed with Crohn's I was hospitalized due to elevated liver enzymes and hepatomegaly. It was from oral contraceptives, or possibly the combination of OC's and the underlying Crohn's. After I stopped the OC's my liver enzymes normalized.
