My name is marissa and i am 20 years old.For the past few months i have been having constant diarrhea a few times a day if not more. I have a canker soar in my mouth that comes and goes every once in awhile. Not sure if it has anything to do with this or not. I also have some boil type things on my stomach that also come and go. They never get too bad, the puss and blood drains out. i have done some research and i think it may possible be hidradentitis suppurativa. I think im saying that right. Because i also am constantly getting them under my arms too. They never require medical attention and the doc. has said it is not staph. my llittle sister has chrons disease and my aunt recently found out she has colitis. I sometimes get sharp pains in my stomach and have been getting migranes more and more lately, i think from getting dehydrated. I went to the doctor yesterday and told him everything going on. He gave me some imitrix for the headache, told me not to eat fruit or drink fruit juice, told me to take fiber supplements, and gave me some pill that he says will make the dirrhea go away. He had some blood work done and told me to go home and call later for the results. The one test was fine but my white blood count came back as 16. Which the nurse said was extremly high. She said that it could mean i have chrons and have an inflammation but told me to call back in the morning and have another nurse who she gave me the name of ask the doctor what he wanted to do. She thought he would refer me to someone. So i called back and talked to the nurse and she said the doctor was out until next week and she would look at my chart and call me back. She called back and was like the high blood count means ur trying to fight some sort of infection. It is just probably trying to get rid of the dirrhea. She said that i would be fine and if i really wanted to i could come back in a few days and have my blood tested again. I'm kinda worried because the whole reason he wanted to do these tests was to see if anything was abnormal. I'm thinking maybe I should try another doctor. I'm not really sure. But we have an on call nurse at the hospital here that i called and told her everything and she said its defiently not ok. She said that it might be trying to defeat the dirrhea but something is causing the dirrhea. Anyone have any thoughts after hearing all this

Try another doctor if you feel like you need to. It sounds like you do in any case. You shouldn't be going through this..and you shouldn't have to wait so long.

Sorry to hear about the problems...
My best suggestion is to keep on top of the Dr's. You need to let them know that what's going on is not OK. See if they can get you into a Gastroenterologist ASAP. You probably know with your sister what all this is.
Drink lots of fluids, and try to Gatorade/Vitamin water -- things like that. Any extra nutrients you can get into your body are critical.
The main thing though is NOT TO FREAK OUT. Sounds easy, right? Crohn's and Migraines are stress-related. Try and get rest for your body/mind/tummy/overall well being. It could just be something else that isn't auto-immune. (I hope so!) The thing is that because of your family, you know about these problems. I could go on and on, but think about "normal" people who don't know what the heck Crohn's or Colitis or, etc... is... ya know what I mean?
I hope you get help. I hope all is well.
Let me know if I can do anything...

I'm just really scared that i have it because even though my aunt and sister have it they both live in new york and i live in mississippi so im not an expert or anything. When my sister was 13 she lost a lot of weight and the doctors tried saying she was aneroxic but the shrink said she was fine. After awhile they found out it was chrons. In the beginning she was taking tons of pills. And when they got things stable they tried a few different meds that did not work. Now every eight weeks or something like that she gets infusions, and that does not sound fun at all.

I went through the same thing. My doc kept telling me I had a stomach virus, that's why my white count was high. If I had caught the Crohn's then, maybe I would have been able to avoid the surgery I had last year, or the Humira injections I started today. So go ahead and ask the nurse for a referral to a gastroenterologist since your doc is out of town, or call one yourself, sometimes they take self-referrals. I understand the scariness of it all, but some things aren't as bad as they sound. Infusions just take half a day of sitting with an IV in your arm, but that's worth it to stop the disease in it's tracks. I hope you do have a virus and you're fine tomorrow, but if not, this is definitely a place to keep coming back to. People are very supportive and helpful and you will find a lot of helpful information.

With your family history and your symptoms I'd be getting properly checked asap, colonoscopy, blood and stool as well as uper GI tests.

Good luck and I hope it's not anything serious or that can't be corrected.
