4 years ago when I was dx'ed with Crohn's Disease, this forum was my haven. tongue

Now it seems so technical. It no longer seems like it's about helping people and sharing our lives/stories, and more like English 101.

Sonia, could you please edit your sig so it is less than ten lines long? Thanks.

**I'm sorry to all of you who find my signature annoying. It is 10 lines long, actually longer if you count the extra spaces I use. It's also multi-colored, so it may hurt your eyes to read it. I'm sorry. If it's that big of a deal, please don't read anything posted by me. skull **

Hi Sonia I just had to edit your post a little. Please note:

1. No discussion of any illegal activity or threats of violence. (ie. illicit drug use, including medical marijuana use, threats of suicide or self-injury, or threatened or intended physical harm).  Discussions of suicide or self-harm that are deemed negative and therefore potentially injurious to others are also not permitted.

Thanks, Meg

**Also, I apologze for not reading the rules about herbs and natural cures. I asked if it was ok, and it wasn't. Fine by me. By NO MEANS have I EVER suggested illegal drug use. I do not condone anything illegal or unhealthy. All treatments should be evaluated by a physician.**

So, at any rate, I hope ALL ARE WELL. I hope that some of you enjoy my quirky-ness, and can appreciate my diversity.

I appreciate all of the kind words and helpful hints that have supported me in the battle we share. I am truly happy to be here and around such great people who know what it's like.

Maybe I'm just angry. Maybe I'm sad. Maybe I'm right.

Maybe I'm just some dumb kid who has these diseases and is trying to get/give as much help as possible.

Who knows.

~Sonia~

. Sorry if it's OFFENSIVE. eyes

**  I took out your email for your own security and protection
Non members can get it as well as spammers
Please do put new one in the envelope if you have not already
Thanks and be well .......LYN

Advertising your email can lead to spammers. Someone already tried to scam me because I have mine in my profile. It's not that anyone finds it offensive but rather that it is for your own protection.

Lengthy signatures can cause technical problems for the system. It's not that we don't want to look at it. It can actually cause problems.

I'm sorry you feel that way about how things are 'now.' Some posts get technical when we get down to the more scientific aspects of the disease and treatments yes, but for everything else I have to disagree with you..

I'm sure an admin or moderator can explain these things better though.

Hey Sonia! I second what L said. I want you to stick around and am so happy you are here. The email thing is supposed to be in your profile so only members can see it. I had my myspace in my sig and got TONS of spam. And the sig line thing is just to keep the site running smooth. Lots of us are on it and it is free so there are bandwidth concerns I think.
27 Year old married female law student (last year!!). Diagnosed w/ CD 4 years ago, IBS for over 10 years before that, which was probably the CD. I am sort of lactose intollerant too but can handle anything cultured and do well w/ lactose pills and lactaid. For crohns I am currently on Pentasa 4 pills/4x day and hysociamine prn. I also have bad acid reflux and have been on PPI's since age 13. I have been through prilosec, prevacid, and nexium. Currently I am on Protonix in the morning and Zantac at night. I also take a birth control pill to allow some fun in my life.

sleepydacarebear,
I am sorry that you are feeling somewhat "picked" upon. That was not the intention of the other moderators. We are here to support one another just as we were four years ago. The rules have basically remained the same during the four years you have been a member with a couple exceptions.

Signature length became an issue a couple years ago. We had several at HW that had signatures that were almost an entire screen in length. Everytime a person responds to a post their signature appears. This means that a very involved, supportive person that might respond to 10-20 posts a day was using up precious bandwidth with their signature. The owner/administrator of HW had to limit signature length to 10 lines max. Hoping you understand the need for this, it would be appreciated if you would adjust yours accordingly.

Discussion of marijuana, medical or otherwise, has been against Healing Well's policy since before I joined up. I did not see your original post so do not know the content. I feel confident that the moderator had just cause for her edit.

We would like you to be a contributing member of our community. However, it must be within the rules as posted. I hope all this can be chalked up to an off day.

I knew that it would take someone from "back in the day" to be able to stop and think about what I may be thinking...

Thank you, Ides.

Thank you for going beyond and thinking of the forum as a whole, rather than personal opinion. I know that my sig is obnoxious, and I understand the need to change it.... HOWEVER, I do appreciate that you explained that it was a 'technical' isuue, rather than a personal one. I know that the intention was there in the original request, but we ALL can be unknoledgeable at times. :) As far as the post about marijuana, I believe there was MORE than just cause to edit. Really wasn't complaining about it, just making a statement.

Blah, blah, yack, yack, I can go on for days.

Again.... thank you everyone for posting. I always appreciate the.... umm... comments.

Hope this 'sig' is more appropriate.

Yeah, welcome back Sonia . Quirky-ness is always welcome or they would have thrown me out long ago.
If we would read the secret history of our enemies,we would find in each mans life sorrow and suffering enough to disarm all hostility.

lol...yes quirkiness is approved...LOL

But to answer your question about the color issue.  As you know crohns can cause eye problems and that it might help some people who have these sort of eye problems to be able to read you posts if you use a more neutral color.  I am sure you did not mean to make fun of, or exclude, the people who have these eye problems. Perhaps you were just not aware that it makes it more difficult to read your posts, because we certainly want to hear from you.

Believe me I want to put all my posts in navy, but I did not want to exclude the people who cannot easily read the color posts.  So that is why I save it for my sig.

Navy - I had no idea some people had trouble reading colored posts. Learn something new each day.

idea You're not kidding Fitzy ! I always thought it was my dyslexia that made certain colours harder for me to read. But right enough, I am hoping that one day an opthalmologist will give me a cast-iron medically-accepted diagnosis of Crohn's....based on an eye test that tells me exactly what is wrong with my eyes. yeah (Not that I see anything amiss with them ! turn)
Must say, I agree with Sleepy as regards the way the forum has changed. I think that is a lot to do with how many extra people are online - there are posts about just about every tiny detail (and the major ones shocked) that we can possibly conceive. I suppose the chatrooms are where all the informal socialising goes on nowadays....late at night when we wee Scots are a' asleep....

Funny funny Sno..... heh  ;)

The reason I made the comment about the eyes is because my vision has started to become a problem. THANK YOU PREDNISONE! Yup, that's right. That WONDERFUL steroid causes astigmatism. So now my 20/10 vision is no longer. Yea, yea, I know.... Many of you would kill to have the mild far-sightedness I have, but my eyes were my super power before.

Stupid Prednisone.... BAH!

Take care all.... Off to try and have some fun.

I agree there seems to be alot more rules on here than there were 4 years ago. That's about the time I used to post/read more regularly as well.

I threw abit of a hissyfit when I got told not to hijack a thread posted by someone else, but at the time I was really ill, tired and saw something that related to me in a post and asked a question about it. I thought this would in turn help the OP as they had the same problem I was encountering. I didn't really see it as hijacking the post, but I suppose in hindsight I was, but with the best intentions.

I have tried using the search function on here and it hardly gives me any results but I'm scared to post my own threads incase there might be another one on the same subject somewhere that didn't come up in the search and getting told off for posting something that there might be another thread on somewhere. That's why I usually just post on other peoples threads.

Also I'm sometimes just too tired or ill to trawl through lots of threads to see if it gives me the answer I am looking for, so it would be far easier to just directly ask the question.

I know it's bandwith problems etc but sometimes you just want answers when you're feeling so bad, not to be told off and made to feel like you've just killed someones granny. OK maybe that's an exaggeration lol but when you feel bad anyway, everything is magnified to feel worse than it is.
37yr old woman UK. Diagnosed with crohns in 95. Currently on 2400mg asacol, 100mg Azathioprine, 35mg pred (tapering one a week, then finish). Been on Remicade once which worked well for me, but they took me off it. Flared up again. Took Humira but it didn't seem to agree with me, but thinking it was now an infection rather than side effects from Humira. Now back on Remicade, had 2 infusions so far and no reactions as yet. Consultant wants me to have a colostomy bag fitted, I've refused and want to try as many options as possible. On Elemental 028 extra diet for 6 weeks. Man I want some foooooood!!!!

Sonia, I'm glad your back. I think that being a moderator must be a hard job and want to applaud their efforts. This forum has grown so much, the job just keeps getting bigger. However, we need each other and we are only human, so if you made a mistake, so be it, we all make mistakes. Move on with each other and help each other. Best wishes!

Buzy -- YOU ROCK! Officially.... because I said so!

I loved reading what you said. It was EXACTLY what was going on. It wasn't that I was just being nit-picky, but more all that other stuff.

I appreciate that a few of ya'll understand where I'm coming from. Even if you don't, I appreciate those of you that at least try to sympathize with me.

Thanks again, hope all is well...

Thanks Crohnsn'me, the I was starting to wonder if this was a crap on the mods thread...lol

Sleepy, it isn't that we do not empathize with you.  After all I am sitting in a hospital bed sick and recovering from minor surgery and I am listening to you.  The rules are there for reasons, like your protection.  For example, I would fix it for you if I could, but I do not have access to your profile to change your email address out.
