27 Year old married female law student (last year!!). Diagnosed w/ CD 4 years ago, IBS for over 10 years before that, which was probably the CD. I am sort of lactose intollerant too but can handle anything cultured and do well w/ lactose pills and lactaid. For crohns I am currently on Pentasa 4 pills/4x day and hysociamine prn. I also have bad acid reflux and have been on PPI's since age 13. I have been through prilosec, prevacid, and nexium. Currently I am on Protonix in the morning and Zantac at night. I also take a birth control pill to allow some fun in my life.

Sometimes you can just tell when it's gonna be a loud one eh...in that situation I try to let the fart out as slowly as possible because it seems to help muffle the noise or worst case just start slamming your books down, making lots of other noises and maybe no one will notice the sound of a loud fart?

:)

Well, I've always blamed that kind of noise on "barking spiders". They're all over the place!

I ended up going to the restroom and sure enough I had to go number 2 anyway. If I hadn't though a loud one may have slipped out!

Geeeeee, drop a book or fake a sneeze or cough real loud. Timeing is everything here. As for the smell, just turn and look at the guy behind you with a disgusted look...

Suggestion from sons (when they were young and in school) on how to "sneak one out"

First, settle yourself on one cheek.

Next, holding that cheek in place, squirm to cause a divide between cheeks.

Next, allow air to escape.

This is supposed to 'baffle' the sound . . . according to agile, teenage boys!! LOL . . . they claim it really works.

rosie, or that can cause a harmonic disturbance in the seat and force the cheek so suspended to vibrate loudly on the supported cheek causing a magnification of the air turbulance force from the anal area of expulsion thus creating a flapping or propeller like effect on the air pressure in the underside regions of the posterior thus emmanating a sound most likely to attract snorts and guffaws of a magnitude of loud proportional volumes thus activating the human deffence mechanism of blood rushing to ones cheeks ( the facial kind) causing embarassment to said farter for the remainder of the class or meeting in question.

Farts are frightening, ya never know what your gonna get. shocked I wouldn't mind the noise so bad if I knew I was guaranteed not to poo myself or that it wouldn't stink to high heaven. skull skull skull OH! Did you know that Febreze now carries an extra strength product now?? I carry it in my car for those gaseous occasions. yeah I can clear a room by letting one rip. Even the dog runs.

did you ever see the movie "spies like us" with chevy chase and dan akroyd? (this is obviously an old movie, when both those guys were funny). anyhoo, one scene in the beginning the two of them are in a classroom to take a big exam for a promotion. it is dead silent and chevy chase lets one go. the whole class turns to look at him so he turns and looks at the guy next to him. by doing so he gets the guy to admit to the shameful act. so i suggest you give that a try next time you cant cover it up.
