Hi Gail. Thanks for asking. It's nice to be missed! I check HW almost daily but rarely post. I'm doing real well. I'm keeping a full schedule with work, family, exercise and fun social stuff. It's so nice to be able to make plans and not have to stress about whether I'll feel well enough to go. (I still stress a little about that and don't always feel great, but I'm not complaining). I'm not taking this healthy period for granted, for sure. Remember my brother I mentioned several times who had a resection and felt great and encouraged me to consider surgery? Well, 5 1/2 years after his surgery, he developed a stricture at the resection site. He was on Pentasa all those years after surgery and now he'll be starting Remicade. He said his GI returned from a recent conference and told him the general feeling is that Pentasa isn't really helpful for CD. My doctor has been saying that for a couple of years, but I didn't want to believe him b/c I do feel OK on Pentasa. He wanted me to go back on Humira after surgery, or at least Imuran. I wanted some time where I didn't have to be on the strong meds and not have to worry about all the risks and the compromised immunity, etc. So now I'm wondering about the best medication to be on after surgery. I thought I'd stick to Pentasa awhile and if I start to feel funky, get a small bowel follow through to check how things look. Then, if recommended, I'd consider a stronger medication. Are you still holding off on taking any maintenance medication?
How are you feeling? Are you staying busy? You've been a great source of support and encouragement for those who post here and I'm honored you gave me a little shout out! I hope all's well with you. SB
