Hi Everyone,
Its been awhile since I was here. Hope everyone is doing ok, but thi is the worst time of year for most of us. Spring will be our next big flare times after we get over this hump. My gi calls it a seasonal disease because his cd patients are always their wosrt these two times a year.
I going to be starting Cimzia pretty soon. I am excited and scared at the same time. I am trying not to let my hopes get built up too much. I back on Remicade and have been since March for an abdominal fistula that seems to be healed.
Has anyone here tried the Cimzia yet. I read about some trials and it really sounded promising. I can get it for $35 a month on script card. Right now the hospital is billing my ins over $11,000 every 4 weeks and I think thats price gouging. The Remicade is really making me sick this time around, running a fairly high fever and feel like I have the flu. The fever is new and my gi is really concerned, to the point he suggested Cimzia, although I do not tolerate meds well at all he feels its worth a try and so do I.
Anyone every try it? Please post & let me know. Thanks all. Susie

If you check out the new meds thread you will be able to find a few good discussions about this drug.

You can find the new meds thread under the "Resources" thread. I'll also bump it to the front of the forum for you.

Kind regards,

I will be getting my monthly dose on Nov.14th. I started out in Sept. and the first time was two injections every two weeks for 6 weeks and then once every 4 weeks after that. My GI enrolled me in the Cimplicity program where the first 3 doses are free and then there is co-pay assistance for up to 500.00 dollars for 6 months..I like having a home health nurse come out and do the injections vs. doing the Remicade at the hospital. I have had fatigue, big loss of appetite, mild muscle pain.. My GI seems pleased with the results so far. I am drinking Instant Breakfast and Ensure to try and boost my energy. My bloodwork is normal. I plan to start exercising and hope that will help. I also have had nausea too as another side effect..Hopefully the effects will ease off some when I start the monthly injections. I also had to have a TB skin test before they would start the Cimzia as a precaution. Take care and if you decide to do it I hope it helps.
