Okay so I went to ER on election night because I was in so much pain...well doc released me and said I was backed up bad, and gave me Citrate of Magnesium. said xray showed me backed up really really bad so.....

I drank entire bottle at 2am after being released. Its now been 36hrs and no bowel movement. After the Citrate of Magnesium didn't work yesterday, like an idiot I took 3 laxative pills to see if that would help. The pain subsided so I thought nothing else until I started running a temp (may be unrelated) and getting so nauseated!!

This morning I ate some oatmeal and got the worst pain ever in my upper gastric area and puked my guts up. So I took a Zofran and some Lortab.

So now Ive had double doses of laxatives---no bowel movement---no appetite whatsoever---crazy terrible nausea---and fever. Do I have a flubug? what is wrong with me? I can't believe I can't go to the bathroom yet. My stomach was makng the loudest noises but now has stopped. I would try to eat again but I have no appetite whatsoever.

Go to the doctor or the hospital, it sounds like you are quite poorly and its better to have an expert sort you out than sit online waiting for replies on here. Hope you get sorted out!

I hope you are doing OK, please let us know how you are!!! I was sent home from the ER in April being told the same thing, I was constipated. Didn't go for 5 days, turned out I had an Ileus, my bowels had just shut down for no reason, the ER doctor was just too inexperienced to know. Lucky for me my regular GI knew better. I hope you find good care. (((hugs)))

I can't believe they are not doing more for you! I have never had one but it sounds like a blockage to me! I would hold off on eating and just do liquids until you get the results!
27 Year old married female law student (last year!!). Diagnosed w/ CD 4 years ago, IBS for over 10 years before that, which was probably the CD. I am sort of lactose intollerant too but can handle anything cultured and do well w/ lactose pills and lactaid. For crohns I am currently on Pentasa 4 pills/4x day and hysociamine prn. I also have bad acid reflux and have been on PPI's since age 13. I have been through prilosec, prevacid, and nexium. Currently I am on Protonix in the morning and Zantac at night. I also take a birth control pill to allow some fun in my life.

If you have pain, vomiting, pressure in abdomen, go to emerg.

FYI: oatmeal is a bulker. It will make you more constipated or blocked.

*** DO NOT eat anything that will bulk you: bananas, apples, breads/pasta (especially white), oatmeal, dairy, etc.

I'd have to chime in with the others here, Song. It sounds like a blockage. I hope you're on your way to the er as we speak. Don't let them send you home from the ER until you've spoken with the GI "on call"... I swear those guys hide out in the janitor's closet sometimes, but they are there! Demand to see a GI and not just the ER doc!
