Does anyone else get this stabbing pain on the right side of their abdomen?  I honestly think i read somewhere that many pple with crohn's experience pain on the right side...mine comes and goes..i'll have it for a few days and then i wont...but when i do have it it feels like someone is literally stabbing a knife into me and i can feel it straight through to my back...im going to see my GI tuesday and letting him know about this..its kind of freeking me out..im wondering if it's just maybe a really sore spot in my intestines!

Hi ImAud,

Problem is . . . one of the favorite hang-outs for Crohn's can be right at the ileocecal juncture. The appendix is right there too. So differentiating between appendicitis and Crohn's issues can be a tough call.

When the appendix ruptures, there can be an immediate relief in the pain and folks think they are ok . . . when really it is a huge medical emergency. So be careful you aren't ignoring this (if you still have your appendix).

Blessings!

Having Crohns in the small intestines means having pain everywhere. The pain moves around, as the intestine do, I use to have pain in my upper left side, in my upper right side, in my lower right side and in the middle area of the abdomen. Also have pain in my back sometimes. If you suspect any trouble with the pancreas, google it. Try to find out if your pain is a typical pancreatitis pain. If you don't find out by doing an own research, contact your GP and ask.

Yes, I have pain in my right side with Crohn's... in fact, when I was growing up, whenever I was feeling especially anxious, I had pain in my right side. If things don't seem right to you, though, check with your doctor to make sure that it's not something else.
