So I have been having constant dirhhea many times a day and stomach pains on my left and right side and i get dehydrated all the time. This has been happening for about six months now. The doctors always say nothing is wrong but now they have referred me to a gi and i have a colonoscopy on wednesday. My sister has chrons and my aunt has colitis. My problem is my friends are starting to think that i am just making it all up. They think that there is nothing wrong and it is all in my head. Its so hard to hear them say stuff like this because i know it is not. There are times when my stomach hurts so bad. IT goes from like a cramping feeling to a feeling that someone is stabbing me. And with the dirhhea I sometimes feel like i won't even make it to the bathroom. Its just really embarassing to tell everyone all of my symptoms. I get so frustrated sometimes.

Hi Hopefully you will get some answers after your scope there are others here that have had issues with others and I'am sure they will be along to help you. Try not to let others get you down as having health problems can be onough to cope with at times.

Hoping that you are at least getting some family support. Is this your first scope? lol gail

Hang in there. Hopefully the colonoscopy will show something. D multiple times a day and pain are common for many, myself included.

Now, as for those who are saying things like that, you need to separate from that. Stress will make your symptoms worse. People do not understand, because they cannot see your intestines. Ignorance to this DD is common. Come here for support and cut loose those that are negative.

Good luck to you.

I understand where you're coming from. Like Texan said, people can't see your intestines, so they can be very insensitive to what you're going through. And, I agree with Texan's advice. If the people in your life are not worth trusting with the nitty=gritty details (or at least some PG version), or, if you've told them and they are still being unsuportive - you need to cut that stress out of your life. Even if it's just temporarily, until you have your scope and know what's going on... Being in that kind of pain is hard enough - you shouldn't need to fight with your buddies on top of it all.

And as far as the scope... the worst part is the goo you drink beforehand. As twisted as it sounds, I've actually come to look forward to my scopes... I like knowing what the HECK is going on in there, and if that's the only way to find out - so be it. It'll be over before you know it, and hopefully an answer to your troubles will follow soon.

Welcome lawgirl!

I am sorry to hear you are going through all of this. Sadly, many people do not understand this disease...I have run into that myself.

If this is your first scope, I promise it is not bad! I had my first one ever last November and I was very scared. Patientspiders is so right though--the worst part is the prep! They medicate you before the scope so you have no idea what happens--I sure didn't, anyways!

I hope you are able to get some answers soon! It is so frustrating to know something is wrong but not have a diagnosis as to what.

To be honest, there are times I have almost not made it to the bathroom in time myself!

And no, this is NOT in your head.

Take care, best of luck with your scope and keep us posted!
