Hi Ides hope you are well . I wanted to ask you if you have any idea why BM's sometimes look like a small bug with hairs on it. It isn't a bug but would remind you of one to look at it. about the best I can describe it. lol gail

Boy! You have me stumped on this one.

My first thoughts were that it is some undigested food fragments, brown mucous, or heaven forbid some parasitic bug. Perhaps you want to edit your subject line to ask if anyone else has an idea. Sorry I'm not more help.

Thanks for wishing me well. I hope I am. I found out yesterday I need a brain MRI because of visual disturbances I am having.

Gee Ides hope everything goes good with your MRI .What kind of problems are you having?

Well I don't know about the BM but I had seen a picture on Righthealth but I cain't seem to get it on here it was a pic beside a word bacteria and it just looked so much like the pic I couldn't help but ask. Hmm Was wandering if banana's look that way. Well will keep on my searching I guess and you get better and thanks for at least making a try at this. lol gail

Gail, did you eat a tad of a banana peel accidently? I recently left a small piece of my peel in my car and it dried up and looked like a nasty hairy bug. I freaked until I remembered what it was.
27 Year old married female law student (last year!!). Diagnosed w/ CD 4 years ago, IBS for over 10 years before that, which was probably the CD. I am sort of lactose intollerant too but can handle anything cultured and do well w/ lactose pills and lactaid. For crohns I am currently on Pentasa 4 pills/4x day and hysociamine prn. I also have bad acid reflux and have been on PPI's since age 13. I have been through prilosec, prevacid, and nexium. Currently I am on Protonix in the morning and Zantac at night. I also take a birth control pill to allow some fun in my life.

I've been reading a lot about the SC diet lately, which includes lots of information about poop turn. From what others on listserves have said, a hairy looking poo could be the remains of yeast and other bacteria that were living in your intestines. Have you changed your diet recently, or added some probiotics?

Hi Fitzy I eat a banana every day but didn't let any peelings slide by.

Spooky No I haven't added any probotics or changed anything that I can think of .Thinking of fishing a small piece out and giving it a better look.My instincts are that it is a banana but wandering how it got like little hairs or strings on it.I have noticed this before though a month or so ago . Hmm .lol gail

I wonder if it wasn't part of the bananna fragment. Unless your poo is moving I wouldn't fish it out but that is just me. You could always do a saran wrap catch on your toliet.
