Okay. Went to the primary doc, and he's more worried about the potassium count than the neutrophils -- totally opposite of the GI squad. He wants me to wait until the cold is good and out of my system and retest, though, because his thought is that the results are bunk. He went through a couple lists of symptoms, and then said if my potassium was THAT bad and my neutrophils were THAT bad, I'd have symptoms of *something.* Which I don't. We joked about my going on the all-banana diet complemented by generous swigs of molasses just to mess with the lab techs, and that was pretty much it.

So...I officially don't know what to think. What I DO know is that I want this figured out and off my plate so I can get on with other things. Anyone else have any idea what to think? I'm open to suggestions. confused

I am sure your primary doc is worry about potassium because it can mess with your heart rythem, and he doesn't want that to get loss in the face of your other issues.
Potatoes actually have more potassium then banannas.
Right now because of the cold, your system is under alot of strain so PLease Take It Easy!
what did he say about suppliments.

doc already knows i'm on a good regimen as far as supplements are concerned, and have been for a while. he mentioned heart rhythm stuff, and muscle cramps, charlie-horse, that kind of thing re: the potassium, and i haven't had any of it. so, what he's thinking is that the draw or the test went bad, ie, something caused the red cells to break open, spill potassium into the sample and thus pollute the results.

funny, i haven't been on the all-potato diet, either. :) in fact, there's nothing over the top in my diet that would cause that kind of imbalance. at least not that i'm aware of. the only meds i take are birth control and the occassional clonopin. and the occassional pamprin/tylenol/aspirin type deal. depends on what sort of pain i'm dealing with on that score.

i guess there is a law (at least in WA) that a potassium level that's elevated like that has to be reported immediately -- which i found interesting.

:) Nice thought Randy, but I would think something would have shown up before now. I am going to quit. Just gotta figure out how to do that without losing weight. You know me -- gotta be contrary!

Kasper: I don't get any of those symptoms, that's what's so confusing!
