Teddybear, I'm not doing the South Beach Diet per-se, but about a month ago I eliminated all sugar, sugar substitutes, white foods (Flour, pastas) and anything that said "enriched." I've replaced a lot of the simple carbs with 100% whole wheat products. I have lost 7 pounds so far. It is sort of a modified Atkins/South Beach, but not as strict as SCD. Good luck to you! :-) Blessings, Julie

I haven't done the South Beach myself, but I have two family members who both found it to be a very rewarding and practical approach to dieting... both of them lost somewhere around 15 lbs (by diet only, they didn't make any added effort to exercise). I think it's a sensible focus to try to eat more veggies and protein and fewer starches and carbs, but I also think that you have to indulge once in a while or your willpower will shrivel and you'll toss the WHOLE diet out the window. I do NOT, however, know of anyone personally who lost more than that 15 to 20 lbs without a serious increase in physical exercise. So, I think the diet might give you the first 15, and then anything beyond that you're really gonna have to be gunning for.

Diet changes are no small matter. I wish you the BEST of luck on your new adventure!

Sorry TBW. I have only done the South La. diet. Its a sea food diet. If I see food, I eat it. Hope you get better results than I.

Hahaha that was great Sniper! I think I am on that same diet!

Seriously though, TBW, a guy I work with is on the South Beach Diet and he said he lost about 17 lbs or so in the first few months. Once I get off the prednisone (which I hope is soon) I am going to diet and I am considering trying the South Beach Diet.

Best of luck to you and please let us know how it goes!
