If I am not mistaken you take Xifaxan right?  If so, why do you take it, and how does it help?  The reason I ask is I am having some cramping after eating, a little looser stools.  I don't think I am flaring, in fact think it might be a IBS attack and I read that this med helps with IBS.  I am leaving for a trip down to my sister in laws in Mexico tomorrow and thought at first it was just anxiety.  But when I take my anxiety med it doesn't stop the cramps after I eat or looser stools, plus I really don't feel anxious, actually looking forward to it.  I don't feel super bad, but enough to irritate me.  I was thinking of trying this to see if it might quiet things down.  What are your thoughts?

Thanks,
Gail *Nanners*

Its basically an antibiotic for travelers D. I believe it is only absorbed into the intestine. Its used off label for CD. I'm not exactly sure how or why it works, but I know it slowed my trips to the bathroom down from 20+ to 5 or 6 a day. I'm not so much on the research into the whys of the medicines. I had heard on from several places that this medicine was being used off label and asked my local doctor about it. He didn't know anything about it. But the doctor I see at the major teaching hospital once a year did and wanted me to try it. My insurance let me try it for a month. I had the best week in years and I was sold.

If you can get your doctor to RX it, it can't hurt to give it a try. If it helps great, if not, it was worth a shot.

I hope you have a great week.
