Just started on 12mg of Entocort daily and wondered how fast others have responded to it. I'm also taking 75mg of 6mp daily. Also, I upped my dose of 6mp from 50mg to 75mg. How quickly does the extra amount start to work? Right now I have terrible bloating, gurgling, and pain if I eat any bread, cookies, etc. . .

I started feeling better after about a week of Entocort, but I just have a "medium" case of Crohn's right now (that's how my doc explained it). I read that Entocort starts working pretty quickly, so if after two weeks you are not feeling better, you should probably tell your doctor. Also, I am not on 6mp. I hope the meds work quickly for you too!

My experience with 6MP is that it is very slow to work.  Most of what I have read suggests that the 6MP may take between 3-8 months before a significant effect.  In my own personal case (75 mg of 6MP) it took from July until October until I felt any sig improvement (4 mos)

Hope this helps

entocort did not work for me. but it's like kasper said, it's topical and i had scar tissue it couldn't penetrate. i found that prednisone, as evil as it is, did find me some with normal bowel movements. i have been on 6mp for over a year and looking to possibly upping my dose to 100mgs in the next few weeks (i only weigh just over 100 lbs.) the 6mp has helped me quite a bit. my pain is less frequent and not as acute. i am still having really bad 12+ bm days. lucky me, i am going for another scope on december 2nd and depending how my strictures and intestines look i may be talking to a surgeon.

my advice is give the 6mp some time. it was about 4-5 months before i started to notice i was improving. i was really frustrated in the beginning and thought the 6mp wasn't doing anything but then thought back to before i started taking it and said, yeah, it IS helping.

good luck to you and hope you are feeling better real soon!

I've been on Entocort for about two weeks now, and it seems to be helping.

One question I do have about Entocort - how long can you stay on it? Some of the stuff I read online says you should only use it for 3 months, and that's it's not a long-term treatment. But I'm not sure, and I value any opinions from those more experienced with this drug.

best regards,
