Well, it seems that with each new flare, something else is a "trigger" food...

The first major flare these were my triggers:
waffles or pancakes with or without syrup. I've even tried making my own and still, same result.
High fat or fried foods
caffeine
ANYTHING with fizz - it gave me HORRIBLE gas - I drank tea or water or gatorade
popcorn
nuts

Now, this flare? So strange..
I can drink sodas - no problem.
My homemade waffles - no problem - but NO syrup still
cheerios and milk - WOW...if I can't go, this is ALL I need
eggs - seriously, they make me go all the time - what gives?

It's just so strange how your diet changes from flare to flare. What triggers you now? I get so frustrated with steroids and diets and flares....maybe something you mention will key me into another trigger I'm not noticing. I'm not journaling this flare, I did the first time and weeded out a TON of triggers.

Hi Kaycie!
Diet can be a unique thing for everyone.
I am currently on an elimination diet similar to SCD and have noticed some improvement in a short timeframe.
It can be also frustrating as there is always something that my system doesn't appreciate.
I have found eggs a real problem too.
I have eliminated all soft drinks and have found this to be a good move.
I mainly drink water and tea.
You should also be careful of syrup and anything with high amounts of sugar.
I also used to eat take away and high fat food and this always sent me to the bathroom.
I now avoid it.
I hope things improve for you.

Thanks aussie - I avoid syrup at all cost! Mayo too. With my homemade pancakes, I use either peanut butter or jam instead of syrup. I think it taste better actually!

Sodas haven't bothered me this go around, but I need to get off the caffeine. That I KNOW is a trigger, but it's a catch for me right now.

I rarely eat out, as they hide so much higher fat ingredients and what nots in things. I can generally eat Wendy's okay, but that's about it. If i want tacos, I make my own at home. It's cheaper and I KNOW what in it all. We do eat out a nice dinner occasionally, but I typically get grilled chicken of sorts and then a potato or rice or something I know is baked and not fried.

Strangest thing that I can eat this go around and have NO trouble with is salad. But, I have to stay away from popcorn and nuts and corn.

I've just been floored by how my body changes from flare to flare....food wise.

Hi Kaycie,

I know the thing that triggered my two major flares was drinking coffee for several days in a row. It seems like doing it once won't bring a full on flare, but too much too many days in a row is a no-no.

I also have noticed that when I'm not in a flare, I can eat just about anything. But when I'm sick, I can barely eat anything except for oatmeal, mac n cheese and jello.

Other culprits for me are: fried food, soda, and sugar. Corn doesn't help the belly much either.

I just finished an elimination diet of wheat and dairy and I have to say I was worse without the wheat, I don't think whatever I was replacing it with sat with me real well. Maybe too much soy products?

Good Luck in finding all your triggers!

Hi Kaycie eggs are not so good for me but I used to eat alot in french toast. Just keep adding and substracting. What I use to do is work on one change a week .First get a breakfast that agrees with you .For me it is corn flakes and toast with a banana in my corn flakes. If that is what I have to eat forever so be it because I know it is agreeing with my system. I gave tea up it made me N .Then after you get a breakfast going that is good for you then work on the dinners and suppers. Could be the cheerieos.I am not on a SCD diet but low roughage so better get out of here I guess just reread and noticed your going SCD. Good luck. lol gail

Hey, I have to warch out for green bell peppers, even if I pick them out of the dish all heck breaks loose, and as long as I have my soda on ice I have no problems. I do avoid popcorn, nuts, most raw fruits and veggies. Ocasionally will have a little salad but not alot.

We can respond to irritation with a smile instead of scowl, or by giving warm praise instead of icy indifference. By our being understanding instead of abrupt, others, in turn, may decide to hold on a little longer rather than to give way. Love, patience, and meekness can be just as contagious as rudeness and crudeness.
