Hello GA, my last visit to the surgeon went well. He ripped the last coulple of terry strips that were over my incision off and abrubtley ran is gloved finger down it with pressure. I guess to see if I could tense my muscle and apply pressure back with minimal pain. It was a little sore but kind of itchy. Some spots are a little irritated, however the incision is barely visible. Its like a little line from the side of my naval to down to where the grass grows. I told him about the diarrhea symptoms and he just told me that it was normal and that if it was to consistent take a half of an immodium because they really dont want me to get constipated. He also perscribed me a creme for my bottom irritation which is called analpram. He also wants me to start a metamucill regime, to help regulate my bowels. All in all he was pleased by my recovery so far, and he wnats to see me back in 6 weeks. Oh yeah I gain 6 more pounds, and Im currently weighing 113lbs and counting. I have gained ten pounds in three weeks, pretty goog huh.:) Ever since taking th e immodium the symptoms have gotten better and my bum can get a rest. As we speak I have the family turkey in the brine, which is its marinating in the cooler. TURKEY DAY TOMORROW:)

Steph,

Hey, I'm P---ed just thinking about the plastic thing.LOL As you already know, I follow the SCD, and suggest you read the Breaking the Vicious Cycle Book. You may not want to follow that very restrictive diet, but the principals are sound. My nephew feels that if he had known to follow SCD after his first surgery, he may have avoided the second surgery. Anyway, knowledge is power, and I would like you to have this info as part of your arsenal. I hope your Thanksgiving is all we hoped and prayed for. I am thankful for your surgeon, and that you went forward and got the surgery behind you, so you can enjoy all the great food. Anyone who brines a turkey must have a wonderful meal on the table today.

Watch for that 6 ft beautiful blond when you are shopping for Christmas. I don't know if she is ready for you yet, but keep your eyes open. Wish I was close enough to drive by and see the lights. I want to remind you again, take all offers for help, stay on the ground. Little brother may as well learn now.

I have it made. 3 beautiful grown Daughters and several of their friends are laboring away as I write, to provide the kind of meal I was blessed to be able to provide to them for many years. All made by my recipes too. They are well trained to warn me of items that are not allowed on the SCD. They don't like the outcome if they do not. LOL

That's great to hear about the weight gain!! It's amazing how quickly you can become so underweight but wonderful it comes back almost at the same rate. I hope you start feeling even better.

shakehead  I think I made a major mistake. My Thanksgiving Day went well, but jumped the gun when I tried to go out with friends that night. We went out to blockbuster and rented some movies, and came back home we started to watch one, and in the middle, one other friend called my brother and told mentioned a party. Me jumping the gun decided to go out with them, was feeling a little to invincible. Anyway it was cold that night, didn't bother me at first but after going into the club and being exposed to all that smoke and germs it did its number on me. I had to tell my brother that it was time to go, and practically beg for him to leave, because he was driving. After two hours exposed, the club had already gotten that warm muggy feeling and when going out into the air, it seemed it gave me instant hypothermia, I was shaking like a leaf. I was in the car giving my brother heck, all the way home. It seemed as if I could feel my stitches in side and with more of the tension of shaking and being so cold that it seemed my stitches were being pulled apart. When I got home I had to stand in front of the furnace until I eventually fell asleep in front of it. When I woke up I went and jumped into bed. When I woke up the next morning I had the urgency of going to the bathroom again, and jumped out the bed again. My old friend diarrhea was there again. I was so sick Friday that I had a mild fever and my appetite was completely scratched for the whole day, I didn't realy ate anything, but I dranked moderetely. I was on the toilet with D back and forward almost all day, got dehydrated and there was a little mucus mixed in my stools. Tried to take a half immodium didn't work at all. Was about the same yesterday. Today went a lot better got a little of my appetite back, and am being consistent with my flagyl antibiotic, however I am out of pentasa and it seems now that my throaght wants to swell and it feels awkard when I swallow like its clogged a little. The D slacked up today as well, but I am stil not up to par. I should have stayed home, I bet now I know not to right myself off a death wish. skull I am still a little dehydrated, what foods should I start back off with to get my appetite back and what about my throaght. Sorry I need some opinions. THANKS

Hi Steph You"ll have to keep your gun holstered for awhile. Do you think you might have a bit of a cold? You can start on a low roughage diet and see if that helps. Your body has gone threw alot and needs time to strengten so you will need to dress warm when you go out.

I eat corn flakes to help with some fibre in my stools. Just try some easy to chew foods for now,did you start your fibre? lol gail

idea  Steph,
I have used Braco Broth for healing when I was in a bad way in the past. You can google brasco broth and find a recipe. I do not add the chicken feet, the thought makes me sick. You can use the broth even when you do not feel like eating, and many people puree the veges and use those as a next step. The soup is full of healing foods and amino acids for protein. It is worth the time to shop and make ahead. Be sure to cook it long and slow, it makes the soup more healthful. I keep this in my freezer because when I need it I never feel like shopping and cooking. I use it if I get a cold or anything that affects my appitite, and feel it helps avoid flares. Hope you get to feeling better soon.

GA it probably was at bit of a cold, because today I feel a little better than yesterday. Everyday gets better. My appetite is a better, just coughing now and then but its a clear cough no mucus or any phlem in my chest, just poppin in a halls cough drop every now and then. The D has slacked off again only went once this morning and that was about 9:00 its about noon with no sign of me going, gargling and air in my stomach has subsided. I haven't yet gotten my fiber, becuase I thought it was something that made me use the bathroom got the wrong understanding. I see that it helps with the bulkness of the stools so I guess, I'll go out and get it today, probably will be metamucil that has something called psyllium or something like that supposed to be really good at helping with the D. Marg that sounds like a good idea, I'll research that today, becuase I was beggin my stepmom saturday to get me some Campbell's chicken and rice, in which I only ended up drinking the broth off of it, yummy though.

Stephen, you've got to kick back and relax a little, partyboy, lol! I'm glad you were able to go out, but obviously it was too soon. Make sure to take it easy and not push yourself too much. I'm so proud of you! Blessings, Julie

Hello everyone, today went pretty well, only went twice today and my stools are still loose but not watery as before. My appettite is back again, but I have a bit of an irritated throat it seems like a lot of uncomfartable pressure and a little acid in the little pocket where my neck meets my chest, it sore right in there. I hope its not the start of gerd. Just poppin in some halls cough drops now and then. Also my incision looks pretty good, I have only a line from the right side of my belly button down to above my pelvic bone. The incision however seems numb in some spots and really numb at my belly button including my belly button. The line is very thin at the top and can barely be noticed, but near the bottom of it, the line seems a little thicker is this scar tissue in between there are its just my top layer of skin hasn't grown back over yet? A little more irritative near the bottom.
