Hi Mike alot of us have low B-12 and have you had yours checked? When I had the fistula's healing it helped. Before my surgery mine was way low I required a five day once a day shot prior to even having surgery .I find it picks me up alot after I get mine. My Dr. had said that it was way too low. It is a improtant factor in the healing process as well as protien for body building. Having CD often leads to defiencient vitamins and minerals. lol gail

Because the terminal illium is where b-12 is absorbed in the intestinal tract and that is where crohns usually attacks. So a crohnies terminal illum sometimes cannot absorb b-12, because of the damage.

I take them bi-weekly because I have had my terminal ileum removed and no longer absorb it. It also helps alot with my energy levels. Some folks use the sublingual, but I find the shots work better for me.

Hi Miss -82 Are you wandering if you are degicient or have you been told you are? I will probably always have my shot once a month from now on. You should talk to your pharmasist or DR. about it. A
Dr. perscribed my doseage and when I should get it. lol gail

B12... can't seem to get enough of it. I don't get the shots, but I do take dissolvable B12s multiple times a day, everyday. I feel the difference when I don't.

Hi Texan I started off with the pills when I was recovering from abcess surgery for a large abcess, B-12 really was a huge help a Dr. had put me on the pills and then another DR. I got put me on the shot. After I get mine I feel more energy ,and get the house cleaned .I seen immediate change in the healing ..lol gail

Low B12 is a precursor to anemia. This why my dr has me on the shots. Susie

I know I can feel a difference, Gail. I keep the dissolvable B12s with me at all times... though with everyone coming into work sick right now, my puny little immune system is working overtime. I am fighting bronchial pneumonia right now, in addition to the normal symptoms and CD arthritis. Arr.... (fell asleep at 7 pm and awoke at 3 am!! I am wide awake now!!)

Yes, B12 is good.
