Interesting.... thank you for your input. I am curious because I have had bowel problems, weight loss, etc but not sure yet what is the cause. Last few months have brought stomach problems. Primary doc thinks it's crohn's or something like that, but most that have stomach crohn's don't have bowel problems as well, right?

Not necessarily, as CD can affect any part of the GI tract at one time and typically when it's affecting the colon or small intestines or rectom then bowel problems usually occur...CD affecting the stomach itself is not very common but obviously it does happen.

What kinds of tests have you had done (colonoscopy, endoscopy, blood, stool tests)?

:)

Just fyi many of us with Crohns also suffer with Acid Reflux/Gerd. I have to take Prilosec daily. I do not have Crohns in my stomach, just the Acid Reflux/Gerd.
Been living with Crohn's Disease for 33 years.  Currently on Asacol, Prilosec, Estrace, Prinivil, Diltiazem, Percoset prn for pain, Zofran, Phenergan, Probiotics, and Calcium.  Resections in 2002 and 2005.  Also diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and Osteoarthritis. Currently my Crohns is in remission.

I started having problems back in the summer of 07. I lost a bunch of weight & was rather ill. Couldn't figure out a cause. After discussing with my doctor, after a few positive hemoccult tests, she felt there was something going on GI-wise causing the weight loss (they thought cancer at first due to family history). I had an urgent EGD & colonoscopy done, EGD showed mild chronic gastritis & the c-scope found a few small ulcers, that the surgeon thought "looked like lymphocytic colits". The biopsies showed focal active colitis. I started paying attention to my stool & notice blood now & again, but not much. Never on the tissue. I had an increase in frequency of BMs, but no diarrhea, although before this began I was only going twice a week and at this time was up to twice a day (which I thought was kinda nice, I might add, constipation sucks.).

Before the scope I had a variety of tests due to flank pain & weight loss, bone scan, CTs (looking for kidney stones), IVP, pelvic ultrasound, x-rays, bloodwork, cytology on my urine (this all started with kidney infection).

Once the scopes were done in October 07, I was told it wasnt' UC, and that everything would clear up after a round of Azulfidine. I was told I could quit the Azulfidine and began losing weight again. Then food wasn't digesting & I was having diarrhea & going 6-10 times a day. Blood was common, but not lots. I was in ER & urgent care with low potassium & dehydration, some high WBC & minor things like that. That's when I was sent to a GI.

GI felt I had IBD. She did a SBFT that showed "inflammation in the area of the cecum/ileum, or the small bowel loops overlaying the ileum". Just a clumping of contrast. No strictures or anything like that, but the radiologist told me something was going on, but could not tell me if it was UC or CD. The GI put me on prednisone & scheduled me for another c-scope. The second c-scope in April was clear. Biopsies clear. So then the GI said it must be IBS.

I had stool sample tests, blood tests (but not the blood test for UC or CD), all kinds of things. Things on metabolic panel are usually low-normal. I am mildly anemic. Negative for gluten. Negative for everything, I guess.

Then this summer, I started vomiting & having stomach pain. Lately, it's been after I eat & horrible bloating, looking like I am pregnant. Doctor says he thinks it's some type of IBD, probably CD, or something of the sort, and says I need to see another GI for a second opinion as I have had some black stools. Nothing tarry, just black, sometimes black marbled. I did notice a bit of pill not digesting again last week, but no blood or problems with food digestion as of late.

I guess that pretty much explains it. Now I am waiting to see yet another GI. I am just wondering if I could have problems with my small bowel & my stomach with CD.....?

I do not have GERD or acid reflux. Rarely any heartburn. Just pain in the center of my abd., above belly button. Serious stabbing pain after large meal....

Sounds like Crohns to me..... And the serious stabbing pain after a large meal could be the sign of some narrowing going on.

When I had narrowing I had alot of pain and nausea, after awhile you don't want to eat because you know that you are going to feel bad again. I would try to stay on easy to chew, easy to digest foods until you can get in to see a doc. My thinking with your clear scope was that the Pred had gotten the disease under control for the time being. I think another scope should be done, without any Pred before to see what things look like now. Good luck!!

I was still kinda hoping it wasn't crohn's..... ugh. It kinda scares me.

But, man, I know I have to do something about this pain & indigestion. I dread eating.

Sounds like what my doctor was thinking.... he said I should have another scope or at least a barium x-ray. I am tired of tests. Can't they figure it out already?!?

Do I sound bitter?

I have crohns and have had it for 15 years. I havn't had a flair up in 15 years until about 2 weeks ago. The crohns had made my small intestine infected. They put me on two antibiotics and prednisone and a pain medicine. I thought everything was okay and it was for about a week. Then my stomach started hurting. It always hurts right after I eat or drink something. it even wakes me up when I am asleep hurting. I went to my gastro doctor and he thinks I might have an ulcer. I go frinday for the scope test. You could have an ulcer, maybe you should mention it to your doctor. Hope all goes well for you....

I for one have had crohn's in my stomach, had been in remission for 12 yrs. Pain started in my stomach usually after I ate, bloated feeling and burping than my family said smelled like sour gas (just little burps nothing big). Then I noticed food was staying in my stomach a long time, took 1 1/2 yrs of testing and finally found the problem on the third gastro. had 2/3 of my stomach removed and had big problems after that for 6 months (surgeon nick my small colon in 2 places and they could not find the holes to repair them, no until the 6th surgery and a resection did things finally start healing and i'm fine now except for the active crohn's we are treating with remicade and mtx. hope this is not the case for you , wishing you well.

I have been sick again... nearly too sick to post. Exhausted. I had to go home from work the 23rd due to vomiting & got sick all over myself & the car on the way home. Lovely, it was. I was so sick for days & not wanting to eat. Luckily I have felt a bit better.... still so tired. Saw the doctor the other day... he was worried about an obstruction & wants me to see my GI. So I am back to waiting again, praying I won't get sick out of the blue, hoping I can make it through the next work week..... I am trying that lactose free diet right now since the GI wanted me to try it & I haven't. This way, when I finally get to see her, at the end of February it looks like, I will have tried this diet. I don't really think she thought that was my problem, but she was confused. I am confused....
