Back is really bad today.  I get frustrated because of it.  I was on vacation last week and now I realize that sitting at my desk at work hasn't been helping it.  I think I might just have to ask for a better chair come the first of the year.

I was on vacation last week too. We went down to Guadalajara, Mexico to see my husbands sister. The weather was about 77-78 everyday. I did not hurt at all down there, come back to work and I hurt like crazy. I think I need to stay on vacation everyday:)

Hi Nanners, I might just be able to stay on vacation everyday. My company offered a buy-out a couple of weeks ago. The severance package is too much to turn down so I put in my request for a retirement. I've been working here since I was 17 and have 31 years service. I hope they accept my retirement. All depends on the needs of the business. I should hear something within a couple of months. Wish me luck.

Got everything crossed for you!!!!! I wish I could retire now, but I probably have at least 10 years to go. I have been here for 19 years. Only thing I think that can bring retirement sooner is if the Crohns gets out of control, but its been good for quite awhile. Sigh!!!

Just got back from my well-woman visit to my PCP.  She has ordered a full set of x-rays to determine what's going on in my back.  Also, she found a lump in my breast.  Scheduled a special type of mammogram.  I'm not going to stress over that until I have to.

Hope all gets better. That chair is a bad place for a back so you may be right. Hopes and prayers that the lump is nothing bad.

Vicky, I know it will be awkward at work, but I find it helpful to stop what I'm doing at the very first twinge and either sit down or lie down until the ache passes. If I stop straight away, I might only be out of action for 10-15 minutes. If I wait until the ache is really bad and I can't do anything at all, I could be out of action for a day.

A hot water bottle pressed against the small of the back might help, too.

I'm thinking of you as you investigate that lump.

Good luck Vicky with the retirement! I have herniated disc so I could not imagine sitting in a desk chair all day. I have a hard enough time sitting through a two hour lecture. If it's bothering me, I just split out to stretch in the bathroom. Fortunately it's not too bad at school since I walk literally everywhere, but it acts up when I'm home and driving everywhere. Hope it gets better!
