Last night out of the blue I became nauseated. I had not eatin anything different, nor was I feeling bad . It was just like , wham. I mulled around for a while and it got worse. First let me say that I would rather take a beating than throw up. I will do all I can to avoid it , but this was unstopable. I went into the bathroom and took the position . All at once it started, wave after wave but nothing came up. This has NEVER happened to me before. I just wretched for about 30 minutes but all I did was make my throat and sides sore. When it was all done I felt fine, tired, sore but fine and still nothing ever came up. Anyone ever do this. I hope I am not starting a new stage of unknow something or other..

I do alot of dry heaving, but that is usually after producing something.
I have haven't really heard of something like this, other then after severe physical activity. Did you go run 30 miles in boots yesterday? :)
Any chest pain or any other kind of pain? Heartburn/e-spasm?

My hubby did the same thing earlier this week... out of the blue heaves (nothing came up) and then fine... He doesn't have crohn's, but he is similar in the fact that he would rather sever a limb than vomit.

We're blaming his tourette-like-heaving on a stomach bug that was just nice enough to leave as quickly as it came.

That's all I got.

If it's not that.... aliens?

I did not have any stomach pain or feel like an alien was going to burst out of my chest. My stomach said, " your going to throw up. " My brain said , " Nahhhhhhhhhhh ,,why ? " and then it all happened and I was fine. Not a drop of anything came up. I am really at a loss to understand. I did not do any heavy work, I ate light. I was not looking at a picture of Viet Vet . Just confused is all. I usually throw up everything down to my,,, well, lets just say there is nothing left after,, but this time it was all for nothing. I will have to chalk this one up as a UFO. Urge for ought...

Sounds like a rather nasty 24 hour bug if it made you "talk down into the big white telephone". Ask around, I bet you'll eventually hear of something doing the rounds.
Hope your feeling better.

Sounds like my sister during pregnancy. Nine months of nausea without ever vomiting. But at least she was rewarded at the end with a happy event. (Seems unlikely in your case unless you are a different gender than I thought.)

Sometimes nausea or indigestion can be a symptom of a heart attack. But I think those who have suggested a stomach bug may be on the right track.

Haha geminikiwi, I love your "talk down into the big white telephone". Hugs Sniper, I hope everything is well with you. Don't make us go worrying about you, Vietvet might get jealous that you are getting more attention than him:)

Talking on the big white phone is also known as "selling Buicks", "calling Ralph" and doing the technicolor yawn. Also "liquid laughter." Any other names out there? And why are there more descriptive terms for that act than for what we Crohnies do so well and so often from the other end?

How about "calling herb" or "calling herbie".

Sniper, I ran into the same thing once coming home from volunteering at the hospital. Just all of a sudden got queasy, then nauseous, started salivating so much I thought I'd drown and then wretching, violent wretching, right from my toes .... and nothng. Well, except for a big puddle of saliva next to the car on the shoulder of the road. No color to it, just clear saliva. Those salivary glands had to have been working quadruple time!!!

And then I was fine. Well, other than some kinda tender sides from the violent wretching.

(((hugs)))

heyyyyyyyyyyyyyy! i resemble that remark!!!

gail, he loves the attention from you ladies. actually, camelia has a leash and a harness for him when they go out in public. he's such an animal...........

sniper, don't you remember i told you a 24 hour bug hit me a couple months ago? the only difference was that i was drinking water to make sure something was coming up. 'worshiping the porcelain god' gave me a sore neck and ribs for a couple days after. i also, thought i might be having a heart attack or something at the time. anyway, i'm glad the 'bug' finally found it's way down to you. devil

Now VV. I knew that comment would bring you in out of the snow. Put that shovel down . If this was a 24 hour bug why did it only last 24 minutes? Yes I had sore sides and no voice to show for it but thats normal for me when I , worship the porcelain pelican..Thats a Louisiana term for it. As for the question about my gender, unless I threw up something more that I didn't see , I dont think I'm going to get pregnant. The leash and harness thing is all a myth too. Only on a full moon do I get hairy enough to lift a leg at a fire plug. C2 I always get dry mouth when I'm about to barf , maybe its a women thing. You galls always have a better way of doing things . Now about that big white phone, I also make some really crappy calls..

Wow vv I thought you dropped off the planet it's been sooooo long since I've seen you here...can't believe it took Snipers comment for you to post (actually, I can believe it!).

Sniper, I hope it was just a fluke thing...how have you been feeling since you puked? Have you puked more since the first time?

:)

Sniper, my main symptoms are nausea, vomiting and cramping. Unlike yours, I always get the cramping, also different, I actually look forward to the vomiting kicking in, because I get a few minutes' relief from the cramping. My fuzzy memory seems to remember that you've had some cardiac issues, including surgery. Even though this is more than likely another lovely Crohns "thing", you really should at least check in with your cardiologist. Hope you're feeling better now, Bets

pb4, i think in respect to sniper, it's a flake thing. turn thanks for missing me. i lurk a lot more than post, these days. i see you spend a lot of time over on the uc board. i hardly recognize anyone there anymore.......quincy, loneylane, red34, but they're all neat lookin' ladies, and i could prolly get in trouble at home talkin' ta chicks all day on the computer. i haven't seen dansky or marty on there forever.

it ain't just me, though. i've seen beta here a few times, but it seems like paulad and bullfrogken and snohare have dropped off the planet. it seemed like snohare had gained access there for a while, but has disappeared again.

sniper, if you don't stop the snow talk, i'm gonna make up a sniper voodoo doll and go out and bury it in a snow drift. yes, we got another 3 inches on top of the 5 inches over the weekend. while that doesn't hold a candle to what the folks in the great lakes area have gotten, i'm sick of it already. every night, i swear i can hear that piece of milwaukee iron calling my name from out in the garage. looks like my riding days in 2008 may be over. snow is in the forecast every other day for the next two weeks.....................maybe with the help of my voodoo doll, south louisiana will have a freak snow storm or ice storm...................heck, i'd even settle for a week long cold snap so ya hafta break out yer chaps and spurs and do rags and stuff.

Sniper...have you had the gallbladder out????  what you describe is exactly what happened to me everytime a gallstone moved into the wrong spot.  heave ho, nothing would go, then I felt fine.  just a thought

And hey VV watch the snow comments on the lake areas!!!!  I am 20 minutes south of a great lake and about 2 hours west of another.  Luckily we are still seeing green grass and I dont want that jinxed

I dont know about a diaphramic spasm Rando, this is the first time that this has happened and I hope its the last. When it comes to fluke things, you would know. Hows the fever ? VV the year is almost over so theres only a few days left. That voice calling you from the garage may be Milwaukee iron but its made for blowing Iowa snow. Crank that puppy up and take a spin on the driveway. You can wear your leathers. The great Carnac says, dont try putting a who do on La. You may find yourself sitting on a lilly pad catching bugs with your tongue,,but then,,,I wont go there..Actually we had a light freeze last night but that wont stop it from being 50 or so degrees today. All that means is a change of gloves. Haven't had much rain so the tractors are not putting much mud on the roads and I've been riding ever day. H-mom, I had heart surgery but I dont think this is related. I think my body just got confused about which end was suppose to be sick.

ya vv, I do post at the UC forum as well, with having crohn's colitis I share many of the same issues as the UCers do. I think I once knew what happend to either Marty or Dansky but now I forget (stupid IBD brain that I have).

It's good that you're still checking up on what's going on here at HW, I hope the others you've mentioned might be doing the same or hopefully they're in complete remission and too busy enjoying life.

take care :)

You are just trying to be more creative than me aren't you sniper!  Glad it's over for you!  I've never had the same thing happen to me, however, I once had several episodes that when I would eat something, it wouldn't stay down!  No nausea...just came right back up!  Let me tell you...don't try this with tuna!  I sum it up to some sort of "cow like" symptom...a chewing of the curd!  Nasty!  I also hope my CD in the duodenum (spelling?) never gets worse...I HATE to throw up!  I'm at least with the others here and hope you'll mention it to both your gastro & cardio peeps.  Try and stay out of trouble this weekend! scool

yeah, pb4, UC is actually my flavor. somehow i hooked up with this bunch of miscreants over here in addition to the UC crowd. at the time, there seemed to be a whole lot more turnover there than here. sniper and i have led somewhat parallel lives and i kinda felt sorry for him since he didn't seem to have any friends here. i'm prolly gonna choke (not choke up) on this, but i've grown to kinda like the guy.

sniper, the reason that freeze up was so mild was that i made a hastily contrived toothpick stickman voodoo doll and put it out in the snow yesterday. wait till i make one up that actually looks like a gnome.

sorry, habs, Canadian? you must be the exception. i was under the impression that most of ontario and quebec were snowbound.

s'all right, rando. i'll get my licks in. hey, by the way maybe i can queue you up to the porcelain pelican by sending you a pic of me with my THAT ONE tshirt on.

VV,,dont come around sweet talkin after you insult the ladies here ..Can't believe you'd imply that ,, all the neat lookin chicks are on the UC board. I know the lovely ladies here caugh that one. Their just to nice to take you to task for it. C2 wheres that broom you use to beat Bullfrog with ?? And as for your VooDoo stick man all it did was make my toothpicks cool. Just so you know, the roaming gnome had a great ride today and he's going to be riding this weekend too. still have not had to wear my leathers. Only trouble is my beard is getting a little long and it tickles my nose at 60mph. Best get some cotton on the chin of that VooDoo doll. Rando, be sure and wear your shades when you look at that pic hes going to send. It may say THAT ONE on the front but on the back it says WHAT???

now you know i didn't say that! of course the ladies here are neat. i was just saying in a roundabout manner that there are a couple of guys that i knew that don't post much over there any more. over here, i'm at the party but in the guy's corner of the room. boy, yer really tryin' to get me in trouble on a couple of fronts here. and no, it doesn't say anything on the back. what's on the front was all that needed to be said.

i think if i asked her, c2 might give you a couple whacks for tryin' to set me up.

leathers!!!.............pshaw! yeah, i know, you got a windshield and saddlebags and a nice little basket up on the handlebars.

voodoo doll is going to take another trip back to the toilet if you don't simmer down now.
