This a new pain to me, but it's steadily getting worse as the days goes on. It's radiating through to my back also!!

I'm so used to my pain being in the lower quadrant, so this very different for me. Oh, it also shoots across the middle at times....

Any ideas, anyone!!

That is almost the textbook description of gall bladder pain. Does it come on after meals, especially fattyfoods? If it's focused right under the ribs to the right of centerline, that is exactly where the gall bladder lies. A couple of simple tests can verify this. I would say if it continues or ifit recurs, especially if accompanied by nausea or vomiting, you ought to get to the GI and have those tests ASAP, as gallbladder disease can transform from an uncomfortable annoyance toa sudden acute crisis if you get a stone in the bile ducts or a full blown infection.

Gail, that was what I was fearing, it's kinda bordering on that kinda pain. Had a couple of little bm's this morning, but usually
I go about 8 times. I'm also getting very bloated. I think I'm gonna get my husband to listen for bowel sounds. I'm not hearing
anything, and usually I'm noisy....

Mike, the pain is continuos and food does not alter it, so I think the gall bladder is out. Plus I do know that I'm flaring right now.

I'll let you guys know if it worsens or I start vomiting... Thanks for your help LOL

That is exactly how I would have described my gallbladder pain! For a year I had attacks with foods like Pizza or Mexican food. After that though water would bring it on. I think child birth was easier, and I had a 10 pound baby! LOL

Went to the ER, c/t showed some free gas. So was given some nice IV meds and allowed home at 2 am. I'm scheduled for a
colonoscopy on the 18th, so I should find out some more. Still feeling miserable though, so I think I'm gonna quit eating for
awhile. Thanks for being there, especially you Gail LOL

oh Vicky,
I was thinking about you yesterday when I was feeling grotty myself.!!! Take it easy and I hope this new pain subsides. I had ultra sound done on my GB and it showed gravel, or sludge, GB problems were the start of this crazy roller coaster ride for me just over 4 years ago. It was removed during one of my operations.
hugs,
tess.

My first ultrasound showed that my gallbladder was fine. I was quite puzzled! A year later they found a swollen gallbladder full of sludge and stones. I wish I would have had that test where they check how it functions, I went a long time suffering for nothing! But I certainly hope that it isn't the case for you though!

Vicky, I hope this post finds you feeling better. I experienced the same pain a couple of years ago. I was diagnosed with Pancreatitis. This can be diagnosed with a simple blood test. (Amylase and Lipase.) To this day, sometimes I experience pain/tenderness in that area, but all tests come back fine. Good luck to you. Blessings, Julie
