Hey everyone,  hope you are all well !  A quick question for ya's.  For those that are not familiar, my 16 yr old daughter just had a ileocolectomy/resection on 10/17 and had some complications afterwards which required a blood transfusion.  She had an appt 12-3 with her GI.  They called yesterday to tell me her white blood cells were low and she needs to come in for more blood work.  The nurse did not have much info for me other than her count was low and they sent me a letter.  Should I be worried?  What would be the cause?  I'm thinking if it were serious they would want to see her right away?!  She has had some bleeding again but it is speratic (sp?).  Her GI told us to send him a stool sample for that.......poop express I suppose, ha ha!  Thanks for your input as always you are my hero's!  Much love to all!

Dont worry. My wife is on chemo and her wbc is often low. There are meds to bring it back up. I am sure if you ask the doc he will have an idea of why its low and what to do. It may be a simple thing. Hope she feels much better soon . Keep us up to date ..

There are a number of reasons why WBC could be low. My wbc count dropped while on 6MP, they took me off and it came back up. Then put me back on at a lower dose, same thing happened....no more 6mp for me.
