In order to pursue your project using Healing Well's site for help, you MUST get permission from Peter, the site administrator/owner. That is one of the rules outlined under Forum Rules to the right. Anyway, email and tell him about the project. If you receive permission, repost your thread. Thank you...

Hi Keri Will help if I can my name is Gail and I did not know much about crohn's but knew about IBS as I had it previously to having crohn's for many years. I seem to be the only one in the family DX as far as I know. 2 I went to a local crohn's and colitis meeting once and had contact with a member to borrow some tapes and a book which helped some with information. No I did not go on walks .3 I keep pretty much to myself and have had a few offers of help during my sicker days when recuperating from surgery. Family was supportive when I was in hospital but feel there is not a lot of understanding as to what it is like to live with crohn's. I would say if someone is interested in helping someone find out info about it and be supportive. Ask questions and be there to help if necessary. 4 Forum here has been a help.I had alot of of IBS problems before DX and so had some problems to deal with prior to CD and having the surgery for abcess was a hard go for me. I was DX wiyh severe crohn's.I don't have the strength I had before surgery. Concerns about my child was hard to deal with when I was in hospital. Complications of crohn's is hard to get threw at times but it helps with support and knowledge. There is a very general info but not enough info on crohn's. Don't go it alone is my best advice get some support.I feel there needs to be brochures given to people who are DX and web sites to help them find more help. Also a pamphlet on some of the test for different problems such as fistuls testing and abcess would be helpfull. Not enough knowledge is a problem. I had to go searching to find my answers should have been easier to find.

Hope this helps some. lol gail

Female. 19 years old. Symptoms began 8/1/07. CT Scan clear. Chest X-ray clear. Endoscopy on 12/1/07 showed some gastritis; colonoscopy on the same date showed Crohn's in the biopsy. Small bowel/upper gi series showed no Crohn's in small intestine. Symptoms include: pain in the gut, mouth sores (not present currently), excessive gas, a sore bum, anal skin tag, a Crohn's fissure, and a cough that's lasted for months (possibly related to acid reflux--went away with Protonix, now it's back!). No menstrual cycle present since September 2008 (& am not sexually active). Am currently on: Asacol, Flagyl, Protonix, Folate, Actonel, Lomotil (when necessary), Pepcid Complete. Am anemic and have osteopenia as a result of Prednisone.
